Role : Payments Subject Matter Expert (SME) Payments Orchestration & Gateways

We are seeking an experienced Payments Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in cards-based payment systems to support and drive Payments Orchestration and Gateway platforms. The role is strongly oriented toward Business Analysis and Product Enablement, acting as a critical bridge between Product Owners, Engineering teams, and External Acquirers.

This role will be focused on requirements gathering, system mapping, API specifications, documentation, design support primarily across card payments with exposure to eCommerce and alternative payment methods over time.

Experience : 8 to 12 years

JOB SUMMARY :

- Serve as the Payments SME for card-based acquiring systems, supporting approximately 40+ acquirers with plans for expansion.

- Lead acquirer onboarding analysis, Product and service capability mapping, Gap analysis between internal platforms and acquirer systems, Configuration and enablement requirements.

- Work closely with Product Owners, Research and define payment product requirements, Translate business needs into clear user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.

- Drive solution design discussions with engineering teams while ensuring alignment with business and regulatory requirements.

- Maintain detailed functional documentation, process flows, and system interaction diagrams.

- Contribute to API and XML-based integration for Payment gateways, Acquirer connectivity, eCommerce systems (including form-based integrations).

- Strong understanding of POS/Terminal-to-Acquirer process chains, Terminal Management Systems (TMS), Merchant onboarding and provisioning tools, Acquirer system configuration and routing.

- Good understanding of messaging standards : ISO 8583/ 20022.

- Act as a bridge between Product, Engineering, Operations, and External Partners.

- Facilitate workshops, requirement discussions, and design reviews.

- Demonstrate strong communication, stakeholder management and team coordination skills.

- Ability to work in cross-functional, multi-team environments.
