Workday Integration SME x 2 (Contractual)
Role title: Workday Integration SME
Assignment: Support Global Mobility Upgrade and FWMT replacement
Indicative focus: Workday interfaces, data flows, integration build/support, defect resolution, technical documentation
Role purpose:
The Workday Integration SME will lead and support design, build, repointing, testing, and stabilization of Workday integrations required for the Global Mobility Upgrade and FWMT replacement.
The role will ensure reliable, secure, and scalable data exchange between Workday and third-party / internal platforms, while supporting migration away from legacy file-based patterns where appropriate.
This role is strongly grounded in programme plans requiring repointing existing integrations, building new integrations, automating process updates, and ensuring Workday connectivity with upstream/downstream platforms via API or file-based patterns with robust error handling, monitoring, and governance.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, build, enhance, or repoint Workday integrations required to support programme delivery and future BAU operations
- Define and maintain data mappings between Workday and connected systems, including worker, hierarchy, position, and process outcome data
- Support modern integration patterns and governed connectivity, prioritising API-based approaches where possible, with controlled fallback mechanisms where required
- Investigate and resolve integration defects, data flow failures, mapping issues, scheduling problems, and retry/error handling scenarios
- Monitor integration health, manage alerts, and ensure proactive issue resolution and escalation
- Partner closely with functional SMEs, architects, testing teams, and vendor delivery teams to ensure alignment with business process design and release timelines
- Support SIT, E2E, UAT, cutover, and hypercare activities, including defect triage and resolution
- Produce technical documentation, integration designs, runbooks, and support playbooks for BAU handover
- Ensure all integrations meet enterprise standards across security, privacy, auditability, and data governance
Skills and experience :
Must have :
- Strong Workday integration experience across the full lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, support)
- Hands-on experience with:
1. Workday Studio (mandatory)
2. Workday SOAP and REST APIs (HCM and Recruiting preferred)
3. EIBs (Enterprise Interface Builder)
4. RaaS (Report-as-a-Service)
- Strong understanding of:
1. Integration design patterns (API, file-based, hybrid)
2. Data mapping and transformation between Workday and external systems
3. Error handling, monitoring, and retry mechanisms
4. Secure integration design and data exchange
- Proven experience troubleshooting integrations across environments (SIT, E2E, UAT, Production)
Nice to have :
- Experience with Workday Orchestrations
- Exposure to API gateway / middleware patterns and enterprise integration governance
- Experience working with vendor platforms (e.g., Global Mobility tools, workforce planning / restructure tools)
- Exposure to Global Mobility ecosystems or third-party mobility vendors
- Experience with organisational design / restructuring tools integrating with Workday
- Familiarity with audit, privacy, and access-control requirements in enterprise HR environments
