Role Purpose :

This is a mission-critical leadership role.

We are a small, diverse, agile, and high-performance engineering team, and were looking for a Lead SDET who can own quality end-to-end and scale automation across Setu.

You will :

- Own quality, test strategy, and automation for complex, high-scale fintech platforms.

- Set quality standards, governance, and best practices across teams.

- Lead by example - writing code, reviewing frameworks, and mentoring engineers.

- Take complete ownership and get the job done.

We need role shapers, not role takers.

What will you do at Setu? :

The Lead SDET role involves working across multiple products and platform integrations at Setu, with deep exposure to large-scale fintech systems.

Test Automation & Framework Design :

- Design, architect, and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks.

- Drive automation across APIs, integrations, performance, security, and workflows.

- Evangelize Setus Automate Everything philosophy.

- Identify opportunities to leverage GenAI / LLMs to improve automation efficiency and test productivity.

Test Strategy, Planning & Execution :

- Define and own test strategy, test plans, and release quality metrics.

- Ensure comprehensive test coverage across functional, non-functional, and regression testing.

- Review test cases and automation code to ensure quality and maintainability.

Defect Management & Quality Governance :

- Establish defect management processes and quality benchmarks.

- Partner with engineering teams to ensure fast, high-quality defect resolution.

- Drive root-cause analysis and continuous quality improvements.

CI/CD & DevOps Collaboration :

- Set up, own, and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated testing.

- Integrate automation into build, deployment, and monitoring pipelines.

- Ensure tests run reliably at scale.

Leadership & Collaboration :

- Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to align on priorities.

- Mentor and grow SDETs and QA engineers.

- Lead cross-team quality initiatives and reporting.

Continuous Learning :

- Stay current with testing tools, automation trends, and emerging technologies.

- Continuously raise the quality bar across teams.

Technical Experience :

An ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with most of the following :

- Strong understanding of software development and testing principles.

- Extensive experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Pytest, Cypress, Playwright.

- Strong API automation experience using Pytest, JMeter, Playwright, etc.

- Hands-on experience with GenAI / LLMs to improve automation and testing productivity.

- Proficiency in Python and/or Java from an automation perspective.

- Deep understanding of REST APIs.

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and AWS.

- Working knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL / NoSQL).

- Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, k6, Locust.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Ability to lead teams and collaborate across functions.
