Importance of the role :

Setu is building fintech infrastructure at scale.

We're strengthening our data platform to power revenue analytics, data science workloads, and product insights across the company.

We need a software engineer who understands data systems someone who can build robust, production-grade pipelines and models.

What will you do at Setu?

- Build, maintain, and redesign reliable, scalable data pipelines and reporting tables, primarily using DBT and OLAP databases (preferably ClickHouse, open to others).

- Collaborate with business, product, and DS teams to understand needs and translate them into data architecture.

- Develop production-ready data models that drive business insights and analytics.

- Accountable for data cataloging, metadata management, and overall platform hygiene.

- Start to take ownership of existing platform and pipelines and proactively improve architecture and reliability.

- Work on operational tasks: monitoring, scheduling, alerting, and documentation.

- Stay hands-on with Python, SQL, and DBT for day-to-day engineering.

- Build and maintain real-time/batch data pipelines that can consolidate and clean up usage analytics.

- Own data quality and reliability for critical datasets define and maintain SLAs, manage retention policies, and monitor consumption patterns.

- Continually learn and adopt new solutions for Data Engineering.

- Work cross-functionally with Data and Product teams; communicate clearly for shared goals.

Who is the right fit?

- 3+ years of practical experience building and maintaining analytics/reporting pipelines.

- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.

- Hands-on with DBT and OLAP DBs (ClickHouse preferred, others like BigQuery/Redshift also fine).

- Production experience: testing, CI/CD, monitoring, debugging, on-call.

- Willingness to learn new technologies (pipelines, data catalogs, streaming).

- Ability to independently debug issues and proactively improve processes.

- Good written and oral communication skills.

- Open mindset to experiment and grow into MLOps.

- Detail-oriented and passionate about consistently high-quality deliverables.

- Tech Stack : Python, SQL, DBT, ClickHouse/OLAP DBs.

- Good to have : Airflow, Spark, Flink, Kafka or other streaming platforms.

Nice To Have :

- Experience with streaming solutions (Kafka, Wrapstreaming, or similar).

- Exposure to workflow/orchestration tools: Airflow, Flink, or Spark.

- Understanding of data quality, privacy, and governance best practices.
