Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team remotely. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, performance tuning, security, and maintenance of SQL Server databases in a 24x7 enterprise environment. Excellent communication skills are essential, as this role involves close collaboration with development teams, business stakeholders, and cross-functional IT groups.
Key Responsibilities :
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases across development, staging, and production environments.
- Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions as required.
- Perform database tuning and optimization (indexes, performance monitoring, etc.).
- Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Always On, Log Shipping, Mirroring, Clustering).
- Ensure database security, integrity, stability, and system availability.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database policies, procedures, and standards.
- Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and database structure for performance and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular database health checks and capacity planning.
- Automate routine tasks using scripts and tools (PowerShell, T-SQL, etc.).
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide off-hours support as needed.
Required Qualifications :
- 8+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production environment.
- Strong proficiency with SQL Server 2016 and above.
- Deep knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and index strategies.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery setups (Always On, Log Shipping, etc.).
- Strong experience in backup and recovery strategies.
- Expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions.
- Proficient with monitoring tools such as SQL Server Profiler, Performance Monitor, and third-party solutions.
- Strong understanding of database security and user management.
- Experience working in cloud environments such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage priorities effectively.
