JOB DESCRIPTION - SENIOR SAP ABAP TECHNICAL CONSULTANT

Position : Senior SAP ABAP Technical Consultant

Experience : 8 - 10 Years of Relevant Experience

Location : Hosur, Tamil Nadu

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Senior SAP ABAP Technical Consultant with strong expertise in SAP ABAP development, technical solution design, system integration, and project delivery.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in SAP ECC, Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP), enhancements, interfaces, forms, performance optimization, and production support. The candidate will be responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance SAP solutions while ensuring adherence to coding standards, technical governance, and business requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities :

- Lead end-to-end SAP ABAP development and delivery activities, ensuring timely project execution and quality deliverables.

- Design, develop, and implement complex SAP solutions using ABAP, OOABAP, BAdIs, User Exits, Customer Exits, and Enhancement Framework.

- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and efficient technical solutions.

- Plan and estimate development activities, monitor project progress, identify risks, and manage technical dependencies.

- Design, develop, and maintain SAP interfaces and integrations with internal and external systems.

- Perform code reviews, technical design reviews, performance tuning, and quality assessments.

- Ensure compliance with organizational coding standards, InfoSec policies, IT security guidelines, and development governance.

- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide permanent solutions to production incidents.

- Collaborate with functional consultants, business stakeholders, enterprise architects, and cross-functional technical teams.

- Support integration testing, UAT, cutover, go-live, and post-implementation activities.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance application performance, system stability, and development efficiency.

- Prepare and maintain technical specifications, design documents, interface documentation, and knowledge-transfer materials.

- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to the development team.

Mandatory Technical Skills - SAP ECC / ABAP :

1. SAP ABAP Development :

- Strong expertise in Classical ABAP programming.

- Reports, ALV Reports, Module Pool Programming, and Dialog Programming.

- Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP).

2. ABAP Data Dictionary (DDIC) :

- Tables, Structures, Views, Data Elements, and Domains.

- Search Helps, Lock Objects, and Table Maintenance Generators.

3. Enhancements and Customization :

- User Exits and Customer Exits.

- BAdIs and Enhancement Framework.

- Implicit and Explicit Enhancements.

- Business Transaction Events (BTEs).

4. Forms Development :

- SAPscript, Smart Forms, and Adobe Forms.

5. Interfaces and Integration :

- RFC, BAPI, IDoc/ALE, Proxy, Web Services, and file-based integrations.

6. Data Migration :

- BDC, LSMW, BAPI-based data uploads, and legacy data migration techniques.

7. Performance Optimization :

- ABAP Runtime Analysis (SAT), SQL Trace (ST05), SQL Monitor, and performance tuning.

8. SAP Workflow :

- SAP Business Workflow, events, enhancements, and configuration support.

9. SAP Technical Tools :

- Debugging, Transport Management, ATC, Code Inspector, SPAU/SPDD, and coding best practices.

10. Functional Knowledge :

- Understanding of SAP functional modules (SD, MM, FI/CO, PP) and ability to work with functional teams.

11. Production Support :

- Incident management, RCA, defect resolution, and application maintenance.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience in SAP S/4HANA implementation, system conversion, or upgrade projects.

- Exposure to SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), SAP Integration Suite, and SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP).

- Exposure to side-by-side extension concepts, SAP Fiori Elements, and SAPUI5 integration.

- Understanding of SAP Activate methodology, Agile delivery, and DevOps practices.

Candidate Profile :

- 8 - 10 years of relevant SAP ABAP development experience.

- Strong hands-on experience in SAP ECC and ABAP technical development.

- Experience in end-to-end technical solution design and delivery.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to work independently and lead technical development activities.
