Senior Network Engineer - Routing & Switching

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimize enterprise-scale network infrastructure.

The role requires deep technical expertise in networking concepts, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of network reliability, performance, and security while supporting business-critical applications and services.

Key Responsibilities :

Network Design & Implementation :

- Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center networks.

- Lead network architecture discussions and recommend scalable, secure, and high-availability solutions.

- Support cloud and hybrid networking environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP as applicable).

Operations & Support :

- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure SLA adherence.

- Troubleshoot complex network, connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues.

- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents and implement preventive measures.

- Support network upgrades, migrations, and expansions with minimal downtime.

Security & Compliance :

- Implement and manage network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access controls.

- Ensure compliance with internal security standards and industry best practices.

- Collaborate with security teams on audits, vulnerability remediation, and incident response.

Collaboration & Documentation :

- Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams.

- Create and maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, SOPs, and runbooks.

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Process & Continuous Improvement :

- Participate in change management, release planning, and maintenance activities.

- Automate repetitive tasks where possible using scripts or network automation tools.

- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network stability and performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Core Networking Skills :

- Strong experience with routing and switching (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs).

- Hands-on experience with enterprise networking equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.).

- Solid understanding of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Systems & Platforms :

- Experience working in Linux-based environments.

- Exposure to cloud networking and hybrid architectures.

- Knowledge of load balancers, proxies, and DNS.

Soft Skills :

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and globally distributed teams.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills :

- Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).

- Knowledge of Agile or ITIL processes.

- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent.

- Experience supporting large-scale or enterprise environments.
