Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly reliable and technically skilled IT Operations Support Specialist to oversee and manage the day-to-day 24x7 operations of our core Mainframe computing platforms and infrastructure. In this role, you will act as an operational anchor for a 30-member production support team, ensuring maximum system availability, monitoring console health, executing first-line incident triage, and driving rapid issue resolution across global shift rotations.

The ideal candidate is an agile Specialist with deep expertise in the IBM Mainframe ecosystem (z/OS, JES2, JES3, TSO/ISPF, IMS, HMC, TEP). You will own batch event monitoring and scheduling via CA-7, manage online transaction failure handling, drive incident bridge calls during critical production outages, execute routine maintenance routines (IPL / POR), enforce strict ITSM frameworks, and write automated operational utilities using JCL, Rexx, and Pega RPA.

Key Responsibilities:

- 24x7 Mainframe Operations Leadership: Manage shift activities for a 30-member operations team, ensuring continuous 24x7 uptime and high availability across all physical and virtual Mainframe server components.

- Console & Health Monitoring: Monitor Mainframe Consoles, HMC (Hardware Management Console), TEP, and enterprise monitoring suites. Respond rapidly to system alerts, abends (abnormal ends), and hardware/software faults.

- First-Line Support & Maintenance: Provide Tier-1/Tier-2 support for z/OS, JES2/JES3, CICS/IMS, and middleware issues. Execute routine system health checks, support IPL (Initial Program Load) / POR (Power-On Reset) procedures, and apply emergency patches as directed.

- Batch Scheduling & Event Handling (CA-7): Oversee Mainframe batch event monitoring, job scheduling, dependency tracking, and failure handling using CA-7 and standard IBM Utilities.

- Incident Bridge & ITSM Management: Lead incident bridge calls during critical outages. Enforce strict compliance with ITSM frameworks spanning Incident Management, Problem Management, Event Management, Request Fulfillment, and SLA tracking.

- Process Automation & Scripting: Identify operational inefficiencies and build automation solutions using JCL, Rexx scripting, and Pega RPA to reduce manual console toil.

- Audit, Security & Compliance: Maintain accurate operational runbooks and incident logs. Collaborate with internal/external auditors to support enterprise Security & Control compliance requirements.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required Technical DNA:

- Core Mainframe Tooling: Direct, hands-on operational experience with JES2, JES3, MVS, TSO/ISPF, IMS, and IBM Utilities.

- Batch Execution & Scheduling: Expertise in Mainframe batch monitoring, job restart procedures, and scheduling via CA-7.

- Shift Capability: Absolute willingness and ability to work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment, including mandatory night shifts.

- Tenure: 5+ years of dedicated, relevant experience in Mainframe 24x7 Command Center or Systems Operations roles.

- Automation Languages: Practical scripting ability in Rexx, JCL, or familiarity with Pega RPA bots.

- Operational familiarity with ITIL / ITSM ticketing tools (ServiceNow) and bridge management.

- Strong leadership, communication, and triage skills to guide daily standups and manage cross-functional product teams (PDO).
