Senior JIRA & Confluence Administrator - 6 - 10 years - Chennai

We are looking for an experienced Senior JIRA & Confluence Administrator with 7 - 10 years of hands-on experience managing and optimizing enterprise-level Atlassian environments. The role involves platform administration, workflow customization, integrations, governance and migration initiatives to support Agile delivery, ITSM processes and enterprise collaboration. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in JIRA and Confluence, along with experience in automation, scripting, access management and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities:

- Own and manage the Atlassian ecosystem, including JIRA Software, JIRA Service Management and Confluence across Cloud, Server or Data Center environments.

- Design and implement complex JIRA workflows, permission schemes, custom fields and automation rules to support Agile, Scrum, Kanban and ITIL processes.

- Administer Confluence spaces, templates, macros, access structures and content strategies to enhance knowledge management and team collaboration.

- Collaborate with product owners, delivery managers, engineering teams and support functions to understand requirements and implement effective Atlassian solutions.

- Drive platform governance, including user access controls, audit compliance, plugin evaluations and license management.

- Lead or contribute to platform migration initiatives, including JIRA Server-to-Cloud migrations and third-party tool consolidations.

- Develop and maintain custom integrations using REST APIs, webhooks and middleware platforms.

- Mentor junior administrators and provide user training, technical documentation and troubleshooting support.

- Maintain platform availability, coordinate upgrades and patches, and ensure data integrity and backup policies are followed.

- Act as a subject matter expert for JIRA and Confluence best practices, enterprise scalability and strategic platform enhancements.

Requirements:

- 7 - 10 years of hands-on experience administering Atlassian JIRA and Confluence in enterprise environments.

- Strong expertise in JIRA configuration, complex workflow creation, automation rules and JIRA Query Language (JQL).

- Hands-on experience with Confluence space administration, template design, user management and governance.

- Proven experience working with Agile, DevOps and ITSM frameworks.

- Experience with ScriptRunner, Automation for JIRA, Insight and other Atlassian Marketplace applications.

- Strong understanding of Atlassian Cloud, Server and Data Center architectures, including migration considerations.

- Proficiency in REST API integrations and scripting languages such as Groovy, Python or Shell.

- Knowledge of log analysis, SSO, LDAP/Active Directory integrations, user provisioning and permission models.

- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Experience managing large-scale Atlassian environments with 1,000+ users is preferred.

- Atlassian certifications such as ACP-610, ACP-120 or ACP-1000 will be an advantage.

- Exposure to Atlassian Access, Crowd, Bitbucket, Bamboo, CI/CD pipelines, security compliance and audit controls is preferred.

- Experience leading tool governance forums or a Centre of Excellence (CoE) will be an added advantage.
