Job Description

Description :

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead and execute complex hardware board designs across multiple product development and field deployment cycles. This role demands deep technical expertise, strong ownership, and the ability to independently drive hardware design from concept to production.

You will work on cutting-edge IoT, embedded, and industrial products, collaborating closely with firmware, software, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. The position requires hands-on involvement in schematic design, board bring-up, validation, EMI/EMC compliance, manufacturing readiness, and post-deployment support. This is a senior individual contributor role with high responsibility and technical influence.

Key Responsibilities :

Hardware Architecture & Board Design :

- Lead end-to-end hardware board design activities across multiple product life cycles, from high-level architecture definition to final product deployment.

- Design and analyze digital, analog, and power electronic circuits for complex embedded and industrial systems.

- Develop board designs based on SoC, FPGA, CPLD, and MPSoC architectures, including power sequencing, clocking, reset logic, and peripheral integration.

- Ensure robust and scalable designs suitable for mass production and long-term field deployment.

Signal Integrity, Power & EMI/EMC :

- Perform detailed signal integrity, power integrity, and DC drop analysis to ensure reliable system performance.

- Apply best practices for impedance control, termination, grounding, shielding, and noise mitigation.

- Design hardware compliant with EMI/EMC standards and support certification and regulatory requirements.

- Collaborate with SI and EMC teams during design reviews and validation phases.

Design Ownership & Cross-Functional Collaboration :

- Own complete product schematics and design documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

- Coordinate and participate in design reviews with layout, mechanical, SI, and EMC teams.

- Work closely with firmware and software teams during board bring-up, debugging, and issue resolution.

- Support post-silicon bench validation, BIOS development, driver integration, and QA activities.

Board Bring-Up, Debugging & Validation :

- Lead board bring-up activities, including power-on sequencing, boot validation, interface verification, and performance testing.

- Investigate hardware issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.

- Define validation strategies, prepare test plans, identify required test equipment, and execute validation cycles.

- Debug failures, analyze results, and generate detailed validation and test reports.

Component Sourcing & Manufacturing Support :

- Manage component sourcing and procurement, including electronic components, PCBs, and mechanical parts.

- Evaluate component availability, lifecycle risks, cost trade-offs, and alternate sourcing strategies.

- Coordinate with Manufacturing Services (EMS) partners for prototype builds, pilot runs, and mass production.

- Support pricing models, production scaling, supply chain logistics, and yield improvement activities.

Tools, Automation & Documentation :

- Use Cadence Allegro and/or Altium Designer for schematic design and layout review.

- Review PCB layouts for high-speed, power, and mixed-signal designs.

- Develop and maintain detailed hardware documentation, including schematics, BOMs, validation reports, and manufacturing files.

- Leverage scripting and automation using Python or Perl to support testing, validation, and data analysis where applicable.

Required Skills & Experience :

Technical Expertise :

- Extensive experience in hardware board design across multiple product deployment cycles.

- Strong foundation in digital, analog, and power electronics.

- Proven expertise in SoC, FPGA, CPLD, and MPSoC-based board designs.

- Strong understanding of signal integrity and EMI/EMC concepts for digital and power electronics.

- Hands-on experience completing at least two products from high-level design to final field deployment.

- Ability to independently manage schematics, perform DC drop and SI analysis, and coordinate design reviews.

- Strong experience in board bring-up, debugging, and issue triage in collaboration with firmware and software teams.

- Proficiency in hardware validation, test planning, execution, debugging, and report generation.

- Hands-on experience with Cadence Allegro and/or Altium EDA tools (mandatory).

- Familiarity with Python, Perl, or scripting languages and test automation is a plus.

- Strong exposure to manufacturing coordination, supply chain logistics, and production pricing models.

Education Requirements :

- B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science (CSE), or Information Technology (IT)

Experience :

- 10 to 12 years of relevant industry experience in hardware design, embedded systems, and product deployment

Key Attributes :

- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive complex hardware programs

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional engineering teams

- Structured problem-solving approach with attention to detail and quality

- Comfortable working across design, validation, manufacturing, and post-deployment phases
