About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Netezza Developer whose primary focus is hands-on development building, optimizing, and maintaining data solutions on IBM Netezza. The role also requires strong working knowledge of Netezza Performance Server as a Service (NPSaaS) and cloud-hosted configurations, to support deployment, scaling, and day-to-day operational needs on IBM Cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, write, and tune Netezza SQL/PL-SQL (stored procedures, custom SQLEXT functions, views) supporting the Datastage ETL pipelines.

- Own end-to-end development of data pipelines, transformations, and data models to support analytics and reporting needs.

- Tune queries and database objects for performance, including distribution keys, zone maps, and organize-on-clauses.

- Support configuration and operational tasks on NPSaaS (Netezza Performance Server as a Service) instances hosted on IBM Cloud.

- Collaborate with cloud/infra teams on provisioning, scaling, patching, and environment configuration for NPSaaS deployments.

- Support migration of on-prem Netezza workloads to NPSaaS or other cloud-hosted Netezza environments.

- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, job failures, and data quality issues.

- Write technical documentation for developed solutions, configurations, and deployment processes.

- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to development best practices.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DBAs, Data engineers, business analysts) to gather requirements and deliver solutions.

Required Skills:

- 6+ years of hands-on development experience with IBM Netezza (IIAS/NPS) development: SQL, PL-SQL/stored procedures, and performance tuning.

- Working knowledge of IBM Netezza Performance Server (NPS) SaaS on AWS, including migration behaviors, custom function compatibility, and configuration differences from on-prem IIAS.

- Strong SQL performance tuning and query optimization skills specific to Netezza's MPP architecture.

- Experience with ETL tools (DataStage or similar) integrated with Netezza.

- IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) or equivalent enterprise job-scheduling tool experience.

- General cloud platform familiarity (IBM Cloud primarily; AWS/Azure/GCP a plus) for hosting, networking basics, and configuration relevant to Netezza workloads.

- Understanding of Netezza system configuration, backup/restore, and basic administration concepts.

- Familiarity with Unix/Linux shell scripting for automation.

- Strong debugging and analytical skills.

Good to Have:

- Direct experience migrating on-prem Netezza workloads to NPSaaS or other cloud-based analytics platforms.

- Exposure to IBM Db2 Warehouse / Netezza on Cloud.

- Knowledge of scheduling tools (Control-M, Autosys) and CI/CD basics.

- Prior experience mentoring junior developers.
