Role Description :

We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Engineer with strong expertise in SQL Server and Azure database migration.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in assessing, planning, and executing database migrations to Azure PaaS, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities :

- Discover and document SQL Server instances, databases, jobs, linked servers, and application dependencies.

- Analyze database objects, T-SQL code, and SQL Server features for Azure PaaS compatibility.

- Identify unsupported components and define remediation strategies.

- Collect workload metrics (CPU, IO, memory, execution plans) for Azure sizing and capacity planning.

- Assess and recommend migration tools such as Data Migration Assistant (DMA) and Azure Database Migration Service (DMS).

- Review schema complexity, data types, constraints, and identify migration blockers.

- Map authentication, encryption, and auditing to Azure security features (AAD, TDE, Auditing).

- Evaluate existing HA/DR solutions (AlwaysOn, Log Shipping) and recommend Azure equivalents (Geo-replication, Auto-failover Groups).

- Develop assessment and validation scripts using PowerShell, T-SQL, or Azure CLI.

- Provide Azure sizing recommendations (DTU/vCore), storage, and networking.

- Prepare detailed assessment reports, risk analysis, and migration readiness documentation for stakeholders.

Required Skills :

- 6+ years of experience as a Database Engineer / SQL Server DBA.

- Strong expertise in SQL Server (On-Prem & Azure).

- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL, Azure PaaS migrations.

- Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, Azure CLI.

- Experience with DMA, DMS, Azure security & HA/DR.

- Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
