Job Description :

We are seeking a Senior Database Architect with deep, enterprise-level experience to lead the design, evolution, and governance of database platforms supporting OPTO Products and Projects.

This role requires a proven track record of architecting complex, high-availability database ecosystems across SQL and NoSQL technologies while providing technical leadership and strategic direction.

The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience combined with the ability to define long-term data architecture strategy, influence cross-functional teams, and ensure scalability, performance, and security across mission-critical systems.

Essential Job Duties :

- Lead the end-to-end architecture of enterprise database platforms across SQL and NoSQL technologies.

- Design and govern database architectures ensuring scalability, high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.

- Define and enforce enterprise database standards, architecture principles, and best practices.

- Provide architectural oversight for MS-SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB environments.

- Lead complex database migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.

- Architect data warehousing and data integration solutions to support analytics and reporting.

- Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and leadership teams to align database architecture with business strategy.

- Evaluate and recommend database technologies, tools, and platforms.

- Establish performance tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring strategies.

- Ensure database security, compliance, access controls, and data protection standards are met.

- Design and validate clustering, replication, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.

- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to database engineers and developers.

- Drive root-cause analysis for complex database issues and lead remediation efforts.

- Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, data models, and standards.

Required Education, Skills, And Experience :

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field; Masters degree preferred.

15+ years of progressive experience in database engineering and architecture, including :

- Significant experience in database architecture and design for enterprise systems.

- Hands-on leadership of large-scale, mission-critical database environments.

- Deep expertise in MS-SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB (or equivalent enterprise SQL/NoSQL platforms).

- Proven experience designing systems for high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.

- Strong background in database performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization.

- Experience defining and enforcing database security and governance standards.

- Ability to work independently while leading complex architectural initiatives.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Optional / Preferred Experience :

- Experience leading database strategy across multiple products or business units.

- Cloud or hybrid database architecture experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Experience modernizing legacy database platforms.
