Job Title : Senior Data Centre Engineer

Reporting Relationship : Reporting to Project Manager.

Role Summary :

Wintel System Engineer with strong specialization in SCCM and SCOM administration, responsible for end-to-end Windows Server management and Data Centre Operations. The role focuses on OS deployment, patch management, monitoring, automation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization across enterprise environments.

The engineer will manage and support enterprise IT infrastructure across Windows Server platforms, virtualization (VMware/Nutanix), Active Directory services, and Microsoft System Center suite, ensuring high availability, security compliance, and operational excellence within mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities :

Execute :

- Installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, IIS).

- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for :

1. OS deployment (OSD), imaging, and task sequences

2. Patch management and software deployment

3. Endpoint configuration, compliance, and reporting

4. Application packaging and distribution

- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) for :

1. Infrastructure, server, and application monitoring

2. Alert tuning, threshold configuration, and health monitoring

3. Management pack configuration and reporting

4. Windows patch management lifecycle, vulnerability remediation, and compliance reporting.

- Administration of Active Directory, user/group policies, OU structure, GPO hardening.

- Experience in managing virtualized environments using VMware vSphere/ESXi and Nutanix AHV, including VM provisioning, resource allocation, and cluster operations.

- Basic exposure to backup and recovery concepts using enterprise tools like Commvault.

- Data Centre operational activities such as VM creation, OS installation, configuration, system hardening, and performance tuning.

- Troubleshooting Windows server performance issues, event log analysis, and service failures.

- Monitoring infrastructure alerts, incident handling, and root cause analysis.

- Documentation of SOPs, build documents, and operational runbooks.

Prerequisites :

- Qualification : Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/IT or equivalent.

- Minimum 6+ years of experience in Windows (Wintel) Administration.

- Strong deployment and data centre operations experience in enterprise environments.

- Excellent troubleshooting and system platform knowledge.

Required Skillset :

- Strong hands-on experience in Windows Server Administration (2012/2016/2019/2022).

- Expert-level hands-on in SCCM (OSD, patching, packaging, compliance).

- Expert-level hands-on in SCOM (monitoring, alerting, management packs).

- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy management.

- Virtualization: VMware, Nutanix.

- Patch management and vulnerability remediation.

- Platform support and deployment experience.

- Good troubleshooting acumen and log analysis skills.

Desirable Skills :

- Basic PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.

- Exposure to backup tools like Commvault.

- Knowledge of ITIL processes and ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow).

- Understanding of security hardening and audit compliance.
