Role Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer / BI Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI to lead and support enterprise-scale data platform modernization and migration initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience migrating legacy BI environments (SQL Server, SSIS, Azure Synapse, on-prem DW, or other BI platforms) to Microsoft Fabric, while designing scalable analytics solutions using Power BI.
This role involves working closely with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless migration, optimized data pipelines, and high-performance reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
Fabric & Data Platform Migration :
- Lead and execute migration of existing data warehouse, ETL pipelines, and BI reports to Microsoft Fabric.
- Assess legacy systems and define migration strategy to Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Data Engineering components.
- Design and implement modern data architectures using Microsoft Fabric services including Lakehouse, Data Factory, and OneLake.
Power BI Development :
- Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports aligned with business requirements.
- Optimize Power BI datasets, DAX queries, and data models for high performance.
- Manage Power BI service administration, workspaces, data gateways, and report deployment.
Data Engineering & Integration :
- Build and manage data ingestion pipelines using Fabric Data Factory or Azure Data Factory.
- Implement ETL/ELT workflows to transform and integrate data from multiple sources.
- Develop scalable data models and semantic layers for analytics and reporting.
Performance & Governance :
- Optimize data models, queries, and storage structures within Microsoft Fabric.
- Implement data governance, security policies, and role-based access controls.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance monitoring across BI platforms.
Collaboration :
- Work closely with data engineers, data architects, business analysts, and product teams.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and migration planning sessions.
- Provide guidance and best practices on Power BI development and Fabric implementation.
Required Qualifications :
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Analytics roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI development and administration.
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory, OneLake, Warehouse).
- Experience migrating legacy BI platforms or data warehouses to cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Strong experience with SQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Factory, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts (star schema, dimensional modeling).
- Experience with data governance, security, and access management in BI environments.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, or Databricks.
- Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and Power BI performance optimization.
- Experience working with Spark, PySpark, or notebooks in Fabric.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Power BI deployments.
Microsoft certifications such as :
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300)
- Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600)
