About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced and proactive AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to oversee and manage our large-scale AWS cloud environment. You will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing a diverse infrastructure that includes EC2, RDS, VPNs, Transit Gateways, and other AWS services. This role demands deep AWS knowledge, strong automation and monitoring skills, and close collaboration with DevOps, security, and engineering teams.
As the key owner of our AWS infrastructure, you will ensure reliability, performance, cost-efficiency, and security of our cloud systems, while helping drive infrastructure innovation and best practices.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage and maintain a complex AWS environment including :
- EC2 instances (scaling, patching, monitoring)
- RDS databases (configuration, backups, performance tuning)
- VPNs, Transit Gateways, VPC peering, and other networking components
- Design, implement, and manage high-availability and disaster recovery strategies
- Collaborate with DevOps to automate provisioning, deployments, and scaling via Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and costs using AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, and Savings Plans
- Implement and manage monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
- Ensure security best practices including IAM policy design, encryption, security group configurations, and compliance alignment
- Support audits, incident response, and security reviews
- Create and maintain infrastructure documentation, runbooks, and diagrams
- Mentor junior engineers and promote AWS best practices across the team
Required Skills/Technologies/Tools :
- 5+ years of experience managing AWS cloud infrastructure at scale
- Strong hands-on experience with :
a. EC2, RDS, VPC, VPN, Transit Gateways
b. IAM, CloudWatch, Config, KMS
- Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Familiarity with containerized environments (e.g., ECS, EKS, or Docker)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ownership mindset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good to have Technologies/Tools :
Certifications Required :
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional
- (Bonus) AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer Professional
Nice to Have :
- Experience with multi-account AWS Organizations and Control Tower
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or Jenkins
- Exposure to security frameworks (e.g., CIS benchmarks, NIST, ISO 27001)
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud or on-prem integration with AWS
