SAP S/4 HANA AVC (Advanced Variant Configuration) Consultant / Architect :

Location : Bangalore

Engagement Type : Contract / Full-time

Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) Consultant/Architect to lead the design and implementation of product configuration capabilities for a complex manufacturing environment. This role is central to enabling configuration-driven sales and manufacturing processes for highly customizable products, including golf equipment and accessories. The consultant will play a key role in translating existing product logic from legacy systems (Infor) into scalable, rule-based models within SAP AVC.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of SAP AVC in an S/4HANA greenfield environment.

- Translate complex product configurations into :

1. Characteristics, classes, and configuration profiles.

2. Constraint-based dependency models.

- Work closely with business stakeholders to :

1. Understand existing configuration logic in Infor.

2. Redesign and optimize for SAP S/4HANA.

- Integrate AVC with :

1. Sales & Distribution (SD) for order configuration.

2. Production Planning (PP) for BOM explosion and manufacturing.

- Design and validate :

1. Configurable materials (KMAT).

2. Super BOMs and routings.

3. Variant pricing logic.

- Ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability of configuration models.

- Support testing cycles, data migration, and go-live readiness.

- Provide guidance on best practices for AVC modeling and governance.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 8+ years of SAP experience with strong focus on Variant Configuration.

- Proven hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC).

- Experience in greenfield S/4HANA implementations (must-have).

- Strong expertise in :

1. Characteristics & classes.

2. Configuration profiles.

3. Constraints, procedures, preconditions.

- Deep understanding of :

1. Configurable materials (KMAT).

2. Super BOMs and dependency-driven BOM explosion.

- Experience integrating AVC with :

1. SD (Sales) and PP (Manufacturing).

- Prior experience in manufacturing environments with highly configurable products.

- Ability to translate business rules into structured configuration logic.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience migrating from Infor (or similar ERP) to SAP S/4HANA.

- Prior exposure to industries such as :

1. Discrete manufacturing.

2. Consumer goods with product customization.

- Experience with variant pricing and advanced dependency modeling.

- Strong stakeholder communication and workshop facilitation skills.
