SAP Basis Consultant/System Administrator

Designation : Sr. Executive/Assistant Manager

Overview :

The SAP BASIS Consultant is responsible for the technical planning, installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of SAP systems. This role ensures the stability, performance, and availability of the SAP environment, working closely with functional teams, developers, and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities :

Performance Monitoring and Tuning :

- Proactively monitor SAP system performance using tools like SAP Solution Manager, SAP EarlyWatch Alerts, and other relevant utilities.

- Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and usage patterns to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

- Implement performance tuning measures, including adjusting system parameters, optimizing database performance, and fine-tuning application components.

- Conduct capacity planning to ensure the SAP landscape can handle current and future business demands.

User and Security Administration :

- Manage user accounts, roles, and authorizations within SAP systems.

- Implement and enforce SAP security measures and policies.

- Conduct regular security audits and address vulnerabilities.

- Configure Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions.

Transport Management :

- Manage the SAP Correction and Transport System (CTS) to ensure consistent and controlled movement of development and configuration changes across the SAP landscape.

- Troubleshoot transport-related issues.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution :

- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to SAP systems, operating systems, databases, and network connectivity.

- Work closely with functional consultants, developers, and other IT teams (e.g., network, storage, infrastructure) to ensure timely resolution of incidents.

- Provide on-call support for critical production issues.

Automation and Documentation :

- Automate routine administrative and operational tasks using scripting (e.g., Shell scripting, PowerShell).

- Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, procedures, and standards for the SAP environment.

Collaboration and Communication :

- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business users, functional consultants, developers, and project managers.

- Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Provide technical guidance and support to end-users.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Proven experience as an SAP BASIS Consultant or a similar role.

- In-depth knowledge of SAP system architecture, installation, configuration, and maintenance.

- Strong hands-on experience on SAP HANA, MS SQL.

- Proficiency in operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, Unix).

- Experience with SAP Solution Manager for monitoring, incident management, and change control.

- Solid understanding of networking concepts (routers, firewalls, DNS, VPN).

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- SAP certification in BASIS is a plus.

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud integration concepts is increasingly beneficial.
