Responsibilities :

- User research & understanding : Conduct user research and usability testing to deeply understand the needs and behaviors of both travelers and travel managers using our platform. Develop user personas and journey maps to inform design decisions, ensuring our product addresses real pain points with clarity and simplicity.

- UI/UX design : Create wireframes, storyboards, and interactive prototypes for new features and product enhancements. Design intuitive user interfaces that follow best practices in layout, typography, and visual hierarchy while being optimized for web and mobile use. Your designs should accommodate complex functionalities (like AI-generated recommendations or multi-step booking flows) in a way that feels accessible and engaging.

- AI integration into UX : Innovate on how to incorporate AI-driven features into the user experience. For example, design how an AI travel assistant chatbot will interact with users, or how predictive analytics (like price forecasts or personalized suggestions) are displayed in-app. Ensure these elements are easy to understand (demystifying AI outputs) and add clear value to the user.

- Design system & branding : Develop and maintain Rhias design system including UI components, style guides, and interaction patterns. Ensure consistency across the product in terms of look and feel, and that designs align with our brand identity. As a senior designer, you will refine our visual language to resonate with a global audience and reflect the trustworthiness and innovation of our product.

- Collaboration with development : Work closely with front-end developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs. Provide detailed design specifications and assets. Participate in design reviews and iterative feedback sessions during development sprints, addressing any UI/UX issues that arise and ensuring the final product matches the intended design quality.

- Continuous improvement : Analyze user feedback and behavior data (e.g., drop-off rates in a funnel, heatmaps, support tickets) to identify areas of the UI that need improvement. Iterate on designs post-launch to enhance usability and delight. Stay updated on the latest design trends, especially in consumer-facing apps and SaaS, and apply them appropriately to keep our product modern and competitive.

- Mentorship and leadership : (If applicable as our team grows) Mentor junior designers or collaborate with external design resources. Lead design critique sessions, promoting a high standard of design and user experience within the team. Advocate for the user in all discussions, ensuring that product and engineering decisions also consider UX implications.

Requirements :

- Experience : 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing web and mobile application designs. Proven track record as a key designer for complex applications or platforms, ideally with some experience in a startup or agile development environment.

- Travel or similar domain exposure : Experience with SaaS products and understanding of the travel/technology sectors is essential. You should appreciate the kind of tasks users perform in travel planning/booking or in using enterprise dashboards. Past experience designing for e-commerce, travel apps, or map-based applications is a plus.

- Technical proficiency : Mastery of modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar). Solid understanding of responsive design principles and designing for various screen sizes. Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is beneficial - not for coding, but to understand implementation constraints and possibilities.

- User-centered design : Strong skills in user research, information architecture, and interaction design. Ability to simplify complex workflows into elegant UI flows. Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG guidelines) to ensure our product is usable by all.

- Creativity & visual skills : Excellent visual design sensibility with attention to detail in layout, color, and typography. Able to create clean, modern, and visually appealing interfaces that instill user trust and engagement. An eye for subtle animations or micro-interactions that can enhance user delight.

- AI/Data design understanding : Comfort with designing interfaces that display data-heavy content or AI outputs. Able to think about how to present things like analytics, predictions, or personalized content in a user-friendly way. Experience with data visualization or dashboard design is a bonus.

- Communication : Strong communication and collaboration skills. Capable of articulating design rationale and discussing possible solutions with non-designers. Open to feedback and adept at balancing user needs with business goals and technical constraints.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Education : Bachelors or Masters in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or related field. Formal education is secondary to demonstrated skill, but a strong academic background in design principles can be an advantage.

- Awards/Recognition : Any industry recognition (design awards, features in design showcases) or contributions to design communities (like writing articles, speaking at events) will distinguish you as a top-tier talent.

- Global design experience : Experience designing for a global user base, including localization (right-to-left languages, internationalization of content) and cultural considerations in design. Travel is a global industry - multilingual or cross-cultural design exposure is valuable.

- Toolkit diversity : Familiarity with additional tools like user testing platforms (UserTesting, Hotjar), analytics (Google Analytics for user flows), or project management tools (JIRA, Trello) as they relate to incorporating feedback and working efficiently with the team.

- Front-end collaboration : Direct experience working in tandem with front-end engineers through an Agile process. If you have basic front-end coding ability or have built out design in code for side projects, it shows an extra level of understanding of design implementation.

- Passion for travel and tech : Demonstrable interest in travel (maybe you are an avid traveler or have worked in hospitality/travel before) combined with a passion for emerging tech (AI, AR/VR in UX, etc.). This blend will help you envision creative features that resonate with our user base.
