About the Role :

We are looking for a Progress Developer with strong hands-on experience in Progress OpenEdge application development and database optimization. The role involves developing and maintaining high-performance business applications, troubleshooting critical production issues, improving system performance, and ensuring adherence to coding, security, and documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex, high-performance Progress OpenEdge applications supporting core business processes.

- Develop and enhance applications using Progress 4GL / OpenEdge ABL following established coding standards and best practices.

- Lead code reviews and ensure code quality, maintainability, performance, and adherence to development standards.

- Troubleshoot and resolve critical application, back-office system, database, and configuration issues across global environments.

- Optimize Progress OpenEdge database performance and application code to improve scalability and response times.

- Analyze production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.

- Maintain technical documentation in accordance with organizational SOPs and documentation standards.

- Identify and remediate application-level security vulnerabilities and technical risks.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.

- Mentor and guide junior developers and contribute to improving development practices.

- Support application deployments, upgrades, maintenance, and production releases as required.

Required Skills :

- 3 - 8 years of experience in Progress OpenEdge development.

- Strong hands-on experience with Progress OpenEdge / ABL (Progress 4GL).

- Good understanding of Progress OpenEdge database, application architecture, and related development tools.

- Experience in developing, debugging, and optimizing enterprise Progress applications.

- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and Progress code optimization.

- Experience troubleshooting complex production and configuration issues.

- Good understanding of software development standards, code reviews, documentation, and secure coding practices.

- Experience working with global/distributed teams is preferred.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Ability to mentor junior developers and take ownership of technical deliverables.
