About the Role

We are hiring a senior data engineering technical lead for our India office. This role plays a critical part in shaping and scaling enterprise data platforms that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases. You will partner closely with the US based Head of Data Engineering and act as the primary technical and execution leader for data engineering in India.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical leadership and architecture

- Design, build, and evolve scalable ETL and ELT pipelines across diverse data sources

- Influence and define enterprise data platform architecture aligned with business and regulatory needs

- Design and operate data warehouses, lakehouse platforms, and analytics schemas for reliable access

- Build and support API based and event driven data services for internal products and real time use cases

- Act as a technical advisor to data engineers, data analysts, and data QA engineers

Execution ownership and prioritization

- Own data engineering task intake, prioritization, and execution for the India team

- Deliver against the data engineering roadmap

- Ensure high standards for reliability, performance, data quality, and observability

Cross team collaboration

- Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions

- Support analytics and reporting use cases with well designed and trusted data foundations

Mentorship and team growth

- Mentor and coach data engineers of their careers

- Raise the technical bar through best practices in coding, testing, deployment, security, and governance

Opportunity identification and innovation

- Identify opportunities to improve data platforms, processes, and team efficiency

- Propose and lead initiatives that enhance scalability, reliability, and business impact

- Drive adoption of modern data tools, cloud services, and engineering practices

Global collaboration

- Work closely with US based leadership and global stakeholders

- Serve as a key interface between India and US teams

- Analytics and downstream use cases are enabled through reliable and accessible data

- Strong engineering practices are consistently applied across the team

Requirements :

- 12+ years of hands-on technical experience in software development, data structures, and algorithms

- 5+ years of Snowflake experience

- 5+ years of Spark experience

- 4+ years of technical leadership at scale, setting architectural direction and guiding multiple project teams to successful delivery

- Proven ability to define and execute data strategies in fast-paced, high-growth environments while balancing long-term scalability with short-term priorities

- Deep expertise in cloud platforms and services such as AWS (e.g., Redshift, Kinesis, EMR) or GCP (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub)

- Mastery of programming languages like Python, Node, Scala, or Go

- Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.

- Staying updated with emerging data technologies, methodologies, and best practices

- Strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills, with ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable technical solution

Preferred Qualifications :

- Expert in big data tools : Hadoop, Kafka, etc.

- Skilled in workflow tools like Airflow, AWS Step Function, etc.

- Experienced in developing data solutions for payment processing

- Proven track record in designing and scaling RESTful and GraphQL APIs for internal and external data consumption

- Familiarity with ML/AI pipelines and MLOps practices, leveraging frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch

- Recognized contributor to data engineering communities, publications, or open-source projects
