PostgreSQL DBA Expert - Performance Monitoring

Job Title : PostgreSQL DBA Linux Environment

Job Summary :

We are hiring an experienced and detail-oriented PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) for a long-term project with one of our esteemed clients. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in PostgreSQL database administration along with strong hands-on experience in Linux-based environments.

Key Responsibilities :

- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.

- Monitor database health and implement strategies for optimization and high availability.

- Manage replication, clustering, and failover setups.

- Write and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures.

- Automate routine tasks using Linux shell scripting or tools like Ansible.

- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support database-related initiatives.

- Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance standards are maintained.

Required Skills :

- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and command-line tools.

- Experience with PostgreSQL backup & restore strategies, replication, and HA configurations.

- Solid understanding of SQL performance tuning and query optimization.

- Familiarity with pgAdmin, psql, and other PostgreSQL utilities.

- Exposure to monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and PostgreSQL on cloud is a plus.

- Exposure to automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Shell/Python scripting.

- Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) is a bonus.
