We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Lead (Backend) who can architect scalable systems, lead engineering delivery, and still contribute high-quality production code.

Role Overview

As the Engineering Lead - Backend Platform (Node.js) you will design and build the core backend systems that power the Phinite platform. This role requires strong system design skills, technical leadership, and the ability to work closely with product and design to ship reliable, scalable features.

Key Responsibilities

- Architect scalable backend services and platform infrastructure

- Design and maintain APIs used by AI agents, integrations, and internal services

- Lead engineering delivery and make key technical decisions

- Mentor developers and enforce engineering standards and best practices

- Build critical backend modules using Node.js

- Collaborate closely with product, design, and AI teams to ship features

- Improve system performance, reliability, and observability

Requirements :

- 8+ years- of software development experience

- Strong experience building backend systems using Node.js

- Deep understanding of API architecture, distributed systems, and system design

- Experience leading engineering teams or major technical projects

- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills

- Hands-on mindset - comfortable writing and reviewing production code

Nice to Have :

- Experience with React or modern frontend frameworks

- Experience working on AI platforms, automation systems, or agent workflows

- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure)

- Experience building scalable SaaS platforms
