Description :

Primary Skills (Must-Have) :

- PERL Development Expertise : Ability to work extensively with existing PERL codebases and create new PERL code when required.

- Python (Good Knowledge) : Used selectively for code conversion where appropriate.

- T-SQL / SQL Server : Strong understanding of SQL Server development to ensure compatibility during conversion.

- Version Control / Release Management : Familiarity with Git, ADO (Azure DevOps), and standard development lifecycle practices.

Nice to Have :

- Monitoring & Alerting Tools : Experience with application monitoring and alerting systems is a plus.

- Automation Tools : Familiarity with scripting or tools used to automate development, deployment, or testing workflows.

Day-to-Day Expectations :

- Analyze existing application code written in PERL and Sybase SQL.

- Convert and/or refactor code to ensure compatibility with MS SQL Server.

- Where feasible, rewrite or transition components into Python as part of a long-term modernization effort.

- In cases where Python conversion is not feasible, ensure full functionality is preserved in PERL.

- Use Git/ADO for version control and follow standard release management practices.

- Collaborate with team members to maintain consistency, quality, and adherence to timelines.
