Description :
Role : Senior Data Lead
Experience : 8+ years
Working Days : Work from Office (Mon-Fri), Hybrid
Location : Gurgaon
About Panamoure :
Panamoure Group LLP is a UK-based business transformation consultancy specialising in private equity-backed portfolio companies. We partner with leadership teams to drive operational excellence, technology adoption, and sustainable growth across complex, fast-moving environments.
Our India Delivery Centre in Gurugram is the engineering and data backbone of our global operations, delivering across ERP and CRM development, Data warehousing, ERP migrations, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Analytics, Data Engineering, Intelligent process automation, AI-driven workflows, and digital transformation for PE-backed businesses. We work on real complex projects, with real clients, and at real pace.
Our ability to deliver exceptional quality to our clients has seen us grow rapidly over the last 48 months and we have ambitious plans to scale substantially further moving forward. As part of this growth, we are looking to expand both our UK and India team with bright, ambitious and talented individuals that want to learn and grow with the business.
This Opportunity :
We are hiring a Senior Data Lead to anchor and grow our data function in India. This is not a back-office execution role. You will be the data voice of Panamoure in client engagements, the technical backbone of our data practice, and the person who sets the standard for how our team works in an AI-first world.
You will lead a current team of data professionals; spanning data engineering, BI, and data migration with a clear mandate to grow the team as the practice expands. Day to day, you will work closely with our tech leads and project managers across a diverse portfolio - data warehousing, Data Modelling, ERP data migrations and transformation, Microsoft Fabric implementations, Power BI analytics, and leading SQL data tasks in custom application development.
You will be expected to be client-facing and operating independently within 15 days of joining. There are active projects work on the table. This is an immediate hire and the expectation reflects that.
What will you do :
Client Delivery and Engagement :
- Own the data conversation in client-facing engagements : workshops, discovery sessions, and technical reviews.
- Translate complex business problems into clear data architecture and transformation recommendations.
- Work alongside Business Analyst, Tech Leads, functional consultants on ERP and enterprise transformation projects, owning the data layer end-to-end right from source profiling through to post-migration reconciliation.
- Present data models, findings, and technical solutions clearly to non-technical business stakeholders.
Data Architecture & Engineering :
- Design and implement data models : Dimensional modelling, star schema, and data vault principles applied to real DW and application projects
- Build, own, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Lead data migration workstreams : Source profiling, transformation logic, load scripts, validation, reconciliation, and cut-over planning.
- Write complex, optimised SQL as a daily discipline : not just for querying but for designing robust, maintainable transformation logic.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability across all project deliverables.
Team Leadership & AI-First Ways of Working :
- Lead, mentor, and grow a current data team spanning data engineering, BI, and data migration across varying seniority levels. You will be the technical ceiling and the cultural anchor for this group.
- Define individual growth paths for each team member and build the team's collective capability in a structured, deliberate way.
- Champion AI-native working practices actively using frontier AI tools to accelerate data engineering, SQL authoring, documentation, and peer review.
- Collaborate with delivery managers on estimation, resourcing, and technical risk identification.
- Establish data engineering standards, code review practices, and documentation habits across the team.
What we are looking for :
Non-negotiable :
- Experience : 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or closely related data discipline.
- Client-facing today : not client-ready, not becoming client-facing. You are already doing it, in a comparable environment, and you can own a client data conversation independently within 30 days of joining.
- Proven track record of leading multi-discipline data team engineers, BI developers, and migration specialists at different seniority levels, not just mentoring one or two juniors.
- Deep SQL mastery in query optimisation, indexing, schema design, and the instinct to know when data is wrong.
- Strong data modelling fundamentals : dimensional modelling, star schema, normalisation, and knowing when to break the rules.
- Hands-on Azure data stack experience : ADF, Synapse/Fabric, ETL/ELT pipeline design and delivery
- Genuine AI-native working style : you build with AI tools daily and can lead a team into that way of working
- Experience translating business requirements into data solutions alongside business consultants and technical leaders.
Strong to have :
- End-to-end ERP data migration experience from source profiling, mapping, transformation, load, validation, and cut-over.
- Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks hands-on exposure.
- Power BI for analytical delivery.
- Data governance and compliance awareness enough to lead the conversation and define direction.
- Previous experience in a consulting or fast paced professional services environment.
Mindset :
- You think in data problems, not tools : you question the brief before you reach for a solution
- You have data judgment : when a number smells wrong, you don't move on until you understand why.
- You lead from the front : junior engineers should want to work with you, not just report to you.
- You communicate with precision, technically exact but never inaccessible to a business audience.
- Ambiguity and multiple priorities don't paralyse you, they focus you.
Why Join Us?
Joining Panamoure means working at the intersection of business strategy and technology delivery with real clients, real complexity, and real impact. You will not be a cog in a factory. You will have ownership, a voice, and the opportunity to define what our data practice becomes. You will :
- A senior leadership role with direct access to the global leadership.
- Selected team members travel onshore to the UK to work directly with clients and the global leadership team, this role is expected to be one of them
- Opportunity to lead high-impact client projects and build a culture of delivery excellence.
- Immediate exposure to live, complex data projects across multiple PE-backed clients.
- A team and organisation genuinely investing in AI First Delivery, you won't be fighting the culture here.
- A clear path to grow into data architecture leadership, and eventually data science, as Panamoure matures.
- Hybrid working model from our Gurugram office.
- Competitive compensation aligned to senior consulting market rates.
