Role Description :
- Administer and support PostgreSQL (1116) and Oracle (11g/12c/19c) databases across development, test, and production environments.
- Manage cloud database services on AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database, and/or GCP Cloud SQL.
- Perform database installations, upgrades, and patch management for PostgreSQL and Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server
- Configure and maintain HA/DR setups using PostgreSQL replication (streaming/logical), Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and cloud-native failover options.
- Design and execute backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, pgBackRest, Barman, snapshots).
- Optimize database performance via indexing, query tuning, partitioning, and monitoring.
- Implement automation for DB tasks using Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).
- Monitor database health using tools like pgBadger, OEM, Prometheus, Grafana, and cloud-native monitoring solutions.
- Ensure database security: manage user access, encryption, and compliance policies.
- Support database migrations and cloud lift-and-shift projects as needed.
- SA as a direct hire and must have the appropriate visa/work permit credentials
Technical Competencies :
- 45 years of experience as a DBA managing PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server databases.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud database platforms: AWS (RDS, Aurora), Azure, GCP.
- Proficient in backup & recovery, HA/DR configurations, and performance tuning.
- Experience with DevOps tools: Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform.
- Good knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting (Bash, Python optional).
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in Flyway or Liquibase for DB deployments
- Experience with PostgreSQL extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_partman, pg_stat_statements).
