About the role :


Orica is a global leader in mining and blasting solutions, supported by our Data, Analytics & AI team, which drives business decisions through high-quality data, insights, and digital solutions. We are seeking a Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery teams.

In this role, you will connect business stakeholders with Data, Analytics & AI engineering teams by understanding business challenges, translating them into clear requirements, and ensuring the delivery of effective data, analytics, and AI solutions. You will also support project execution, manage expectations, and promote solution adoption across Orica.

Working closely with business representatives, data engineers, data scientists, project managers, and technology stakeholders, you will help maintain alignment on goals, requirements, and priorities. Additionally, you will ensure all solutions comply with Oricas standards for governance, security, data quality, and ethical AI.

This position combines business analysis, project coordination, data insight, requirements gathering, and change management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and engaging with people.

What you will be doing :


- Understand business problems and translate them into clear, structured requirements for data, analytics, and AI solutions.

- Bridge business and technical teams by clarifying goals, aligning expectations, and ensuring both sides understand each other.

- Support project delivery by participating in planning, coordinating sprints, tracking progress, and helping ensure timely execution.

- Ensure data quality and governance by working with data stewards and promoting ethical, accurate, and compliant use of data and AI.

- Drive solution adoption by communicating value, preparing teams for change, and encouraging uptake of new tools and insights.

- Maintain strong documentation using tools like ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence across all stages of the project.

- Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, staying updated on new technologies, and suggesting enhancements.

What you will bring :


- A tertiary qualification in an IT related field


- 10+ years of experience across areas such as Project Management, Data Analytics, Data Management, BI, Cloud Data Services, or SAP

- Strong business analysis and problem solving skills

- Experience working in global organizations using Agile and DevOps ways of working

- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management abilities

- Experience working with multi sourced teams and external vendors

- Familiarity with key data and automation platforms (SAP, Azure, GCP preferred)
