The Role :

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with deep experience in Node.js and AWS cloud technologies to help architect, build, and scale HealthBloxs core services. Youll lead the design and development of RESTful APIs, EHR integrations, workflow automation engines, and HIPAA-grade data pipelines powering our customer-facing platform.

Key Responsibilities :

- Architect, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js

- Build and optimize scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS (Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, EventBridge, etc.)

- Design secure, performant integrations with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and third-party healthtech platforms

- Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver robust, testable, and HIPAA-compliant features

- Lead improvements in data normalization, interoperability, and reliability for patient and provider workflows

- Help automate deployment, monitoring, and alerting with modern DevOps tools (CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code)

- Ensure system reliability and uptime as we scale to thousands of healthcare users

- Contribute to technical architecture decisions and mentor junior engineers

Who You Are :

- 3+ years of backend engineering experience (startup or high-growth SaaS preferred)

- Strong proficiency in Node.js (production-scale APIs/services)

- Deep hands-on AWS experience (infrastructure design, deployment, and monitoring)

- Exposure to healthcare IT, EHR integrations (FHIR, HL7, or custom APIs), or other highly regulated data environments is highly preferred

- Strong grasp of secure API design, authentication/authorization, and data privacy best practices

- Familiarity with distributed systems, message queues, event-driven architectures

- Test-driven development mindset; experience with automated testing frameworks

- Learners attitude, disciplined about documentation, thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
