Job Description

Senior-Level | 7+ Years Experience

Function : Client Delivery & Domain Anchoring | Reports to : Engagement Lead / Head of Delivery | Location : [City / Hybrid / Remote]

About Us :

We are an AI-native startup building the next generation of intelligent finance solutions for enterprise SAP environments. Our work spans two tracks : high-impact client engagements that solve real finance problems at enterprise scale, and a growing suite of proprietary agentic AI products that we develop and refine in-house. We move fast, go deep on both technology and SAP-finance domain, and believe the most valuable AI practitioners are those who understand both.

About the Role :

We are looking for a senior Finance SME with deep SAP module expertise who can serve as the domain anchor on our agentic AI engagements. In this role, you will sit between our engineering pods and client Finance, Controlling, SAP Basis, and InfoSec teams - translating SAP behavior and financial logic into design decisions, validating agent outputs against ledger and audit expectations, and ensuring every solution holds up under scrutiny.

This is not a back-office finance role. You will defend control positions to client controllers, shape the rules our AI agents enforce against SAP master data and transactional flows, and own audit-readiness for live deployments. In parallel, you will help productize finance domain assets - SAP integration patterns, control libraries, evaluation criteria - that strengthen every future engagement.

If you have spent years inside SAP finance functions and want to apply that depth to the next generation of AI in enterprise finance, this role was designed for you.

Domains You'll Cover :

Our engagements span the full breadth of SAP finance and procurement. You will be expected to be deeply fluent in the core modules below, and at least conversant in the specialised ones.

Core (deep expertise required) :

- SAP FI - Financial Accounting - general ledger, AP, AR, period close, document posting, ledger configuration, parallel ledgers.

- SAP CO - Controlling - cost centres, internal orders, profit centres, allocations, settlements, profitability analysis.

- SAP MM - Materials Management - purchase requisitions, purchase orders, release strategies, vendor master, goods receipt, invoice verification, three-way match.

Specialised (working knowledge preferred) :

- SAP FI-AA - Asset Accounting - asset master, AUC (Asset Under Construction) lifecycle, capitalisation, depreciation runs, settlement rules, BAPIs for asset creation and reversal.

- SAP PS - Project System - WBS elements, project structures, network activities, settlement to assets or cost centres.

- SAP TRM - Treasury & Risk Management - cash management, hedging, financial instruments, in-house cash.

- SAP FM - Funds Management - budget control, commitments, fund consumption (especially relevant in public sector and regulated industries).

- Familiarity with cross-module flows - MM - FI (GR/IR), CO - FI-AA (settlement), PS - FI-AA (capital project settlement) - is significantly more valuable than narrow expertise in a single module.

What You'll Do :

Client Engagements (Primary Focus) :

- Serve as the embedded finance domain expert on agentic AI engagements covering procurement, controlling, asset accounting, financial close, compliance, and audit workflows.

- Run client discovery sessions and workshops with CFOs, controllers, finance operations, audit, and ERP leads; translate domain requirements into clear specifications for the engineering pod.

- Validate agent outputs against ledger logic, control frameworks, and audit expectations; sign off on accuracy, explainability, and traceability before solutions go live.

- Lead client-side User Acceptance Testing, manage SoW acceptance gates, and own audit-readiness reviews.

- Build trusted advisor relationships with client finance counterparts; defuse domain disagreements between engineering and client SMEs.

Internal Asset Development (Secondary Focus) :

- Contribute to reusable finance domain assets - control libraries, taxonomy maps, evaluation rubrics, audit-trail patterns - that accelerate future engagements.

- Help shape our internal agentic finance platform from the domain side : which controls matter, which ledger states need detection, which audit positions are non-negotiable.

- Document patterns and learnings from client work so they can be productized into repeatable internal assets.

Domain Leadership :

- Set the bar for financial rigor across the team : how we test agent decisions, how we defend them to auditors, how we present them to client finance leadership.

- Mentor junior team members on finance fundamentals - accounting, controls, ERP behavior, regulatory context.

- Stay current on enterprise finance trends, regulatory shifts, and the evolution of finance technology.

What We're Looking For :

Must-Have :

- 7+ years in enterprise SAP finance roles with hands-on functional or consulting experience. At least two large SAP implementations or major support engagements where you owned a finance workstream end-to-end.

- Deep expertise in SAP FI, CO, and MM - you can describe configuration choices, master data design, and integration touchpoints from memory.

- Working knowledge of at least one specialised module : FI-AA, PS, TRM, or FM. Bonus if you can speak to BAPIs and idocs that touch your modules of expertise.

- Audit-grade rigor - you have defended financial control positions to Big 4 auditors or internal audit. You think in terms of SOX, IFRS, segregation of duties, and SAP authorization objects.

- Comfortable with SAP integration architecture - you understand APIs, BAPIs, IDocs, master data flows, idempotency, and reconciliation patterns even if you do not write code.

- Strong communication across audiences - you can explain a settlement rule to an engineering team and a graph database to a finance controller, in writing and in person.

Good to Have :

- CA, CMA, CPA, ACCA, or CFA qualification.

- SAP S/4HANA experience (vs ECC) - familiarity with the Universal Journal, embedded analytics, and Fiori-based approval flows.

- Prior consulting exposure (Big 4 or Big 3) or in-house SAP finance transformation experience.

- Experience working in or with shared service centers (SSC) or global business services (GBS).

- Exposure to agentic AI, LLMs, RPA, or modern data pipelines - you do not have to have built them, but you should be curious enough to learn fast.

- Working knowledge of multi-entity, multi-currency, multi-GAAP environments - group reporting, intercompany, parallel ledgers, foreign currency revaluation.

- Familiarity with Ariba, Concur, Fieldglass, or other SAP-adjacent procurement and vendor management platforms.

Who You Are :

- Genuinely curious about both finance and AI - you engage with both actively rather than choosing sides.

- Comfortable with ambiguity; you make progress without a perfectly defined spec and bring structure where there is none.

- Obsessed with correctness and defensibility, especially when AI is embedded in financial decisions.

- A force multiplier - your judgment makes the engineers around you better and the clients you work with more confident.

- A clear, proactive communicator across technical and business audiences, in writing and in person.

What We Offer :

- Meaningful equity in an early-stage, high-growth AI startup.

- Primary exposure to marquee client engagements across financial services from day one.

- A small, senior team where your domain judgment shapes architecture and product.

- Flexible / hybrid work culture.

- Direct exposure to Fortune 500 finance leadership - CFOs, controllers, audit committees, steering councils.

- Deep career capital : agentic AI for enterprise finance is one of the largest greenfield categories in the market.
