About the Role :

SoundHound is seeking an experienced Manual QA Tester with a strong background in Intelligent Voice Assistants (IVA) and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems. This role is critical to ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of voice-driven conversational experiences, with a strong emphasis on Spanish-language validation, call flows, and system integrations.

The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on experience testing voice and conversational AI applications across telephony platforms. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and automation engineers to validate end-to-end conversational journeys and ensure seamless customer experiences. While this is a manual QAfocused role, the candidate should be comfortable executing and maintaining automated test suites created by others and collaborating within automation-driven testing environments.


Key Responsibilities :


- Perform manual testing of IVA and IVR applications across telephony and voice platforms.


- Validate Spanish-language conversational flows, including prompts, intents, utterances, grammar, and error handling.


- Test end-to-end call flows, including speech recognition (ASR), natural language understanding (NLU), DTMF handling, and fallback scenarios.


- Execute functional, regression, smoke, and user acceptance testing (UAT) across multiple releases.


- Work with existing automation frameworks by executing, maintaining, and validating automated test cases developed by automation engineers.


- Analyze voice logs, call traces, transcripts, and system responses to identify defects and root causes.


- Report, track, prioritize, and verify defects using standard bug tracking tools.


- Collaborate closely with developers, automation engineers, and product managers to ensure timely issue resolution and high-quality releases.


- Contribute to test plans, test cases, test documentation, and quality metrics.


- Participate in release readiness activities and support production validation as needed.


Required Skills & Qualifications :


- 5+ years of experience in Manual Quality Assurance, with a strong focus on voice-based systems.


- Hands-on experience testing IVA and IVR platforms in production or enterprise environments.


- Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) mandatory for validating conversational accuracy and intent recognition.


- Experience working alongside automation frameworks, including executing and maintaining automated test suites created by others.


- Strong understanding of QA processes, SDLC, and STLC.


- Hands-on experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar.


- Ability to analyze conversational logs, transcripts, and system behavior to diagnose issues.


- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.


- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in a remote work environment.


Nice to Have :


- Exposure to telephony systems such as SIP, PSTN, and VoIP.


- Basic understanding of automation testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, or custom voice automation frameworks).


- Experience testing multilingual or conversational AI systems.


- Prior experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
