Mainframe Development & Programming - Life Insurance & Annuity:

- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, Easytrieve, and VSAM.

- Write efficient, well-structured COBOL programs adhering to coding standards and best practices.

- Develop and modify JCL scripts for batch job execution, scheduling, and output handling.

- Work with VSAM file structures (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS) for data storage and retrieval operations.

- Utilize Easytrieve for report generation and data extraction requirements.

Vantage One / WMA & Annuity Domain:

- Leverage working knowledge of Vantage One / WMA product suite to support and enhance annuity business processes (Mandatory).

- Understand annuity policy lifecycle, including issuance, premium processing, valuation, and disbursement workflows.

- Collaborate with business and functional teams to translate annuity-specific requirements into mainframe solutions.

- Support enhancements and bug fixes tied to annuity product configurations within the platform.

Testing, Debugging & Quality:

- Conduct thorough unit testing of COBOL changes, ensuring correctness and alignment with business requirements.

- Debug and resolve production issues, batch failures, and code defects efficiently.

- Prepare and maintain unit test cases, test results, and code documentation.

- Coordinate with QA teams for integration and regression testing cycles.

Job Scheduling & Version Control:

- Work with Job Scheduler tools like CA7 to manage batch job dependencies, trigger conditions, and execution windows.

- Use Endeavor (or equivalent version control tools) for source code management, check-in/check-out, and release promotion.

- Monitor and troubleshoot scheduled job failures and escalate as needed.

CICS & CA7:

- Support and develop CICS transaction processing programs for online mainframe interactions.

- Apply basic knowledge of CA7 Workload Automation for job stream management and scheduling.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- 46+ years of hands-on mainframe development experience.

- Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, Easytrieve, and VSAM all mandatory.

- Vantage One / WMA product knowledge with annuity business exposure strictly mandatory.

- Proven experience in unit testing COBOL programs and independently debugging issues.

- Working knowledge of Job Scheduler and Endeavor version control.

- Familiarity with CICS transaction processing.

- Basic understanding of CA7 workload automation.

- Insurance domain experience is mandatory preferably in Annuity insurance lines of business.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Good to Have:

- Exposure to DB2 or other mainframe database technologies.

- Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models.

- Knowledge of IRDAI compliance requirements in the insurance context.

- Familiarity with mainframe migration or modernization initiatives.

- Experience with tools like Xpediter for advanced debugging.
