Role Overview :

As a Mainframe Developer based in Bangalore, you will serve as a critical technical anchor for our core enterprise systems, ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical applications. Your day-to-day involves designing, developing, and maintaining complex mainframe solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams, business analysts, and global stakeholders to translate intricate requirements into robust technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities :

- Architect and implement high-performance mainframe applications using COBOL and CICS to ensure seamless transaction processing for our global client base.

- Optimize complex DB2 database structures and VSAM datasets to enhance data retrieval speeds and overall system throughput.

- Develop and maintain sophisticated JCL procedures to automate batch processing, reducing manual intervention and improving system reliability.

- Collaborate with infrastructure and production support teams to troubleshoot critical incidents, minimizing downtime and maintaining high availability for business-critical services.

- Mentor junior developers by conducting rigorous code reviews and promoting best practices in mainframe development to elevate the technical standards of the engineering department.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated expertise in the full mainframe development lifecycle, specifically leveraging COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM to build scalable enterprise solutions.

- Proven ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into efficient, maintainable code that aligns with long-term architectural goals.

- Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of effectively communicating technical constraints and solutions to non-technical stakeholders and project managers.

- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on debugging and performance tuning in high-pressure, production-critical environments.

- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, complemented by 6 - 10 years of hands-on experience in mainframe environments.

- High degree of adaptability and professional maturity, with the ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment while maintaining consistent output and collaborative engagement with distributed teams.
