Responsibilities :

- Collaborates with architects, application designers, business system analysts and testing specialists to deliver high quality solutions.

- Develop and maintain Mainframe applications to meet project requirements.

- Reviews and analyzes large-scale systems.

- Create design and other related artifacts throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) through completion and maintenance as defined by Project Life Cycle processes.

- Provide effort and duration estimates associated with the design and development phase of the SDLC.

- Participate in the review of test plans and packages to ensure all design requirements are met.

- Participate in the review of post implementation and verification artifacts to ensure all systemic changes are operating as designed.

- Assist in production and other support activities and resolve issues that may arise and perform research activities as assigned.

- Keeps current with trends in emerging technologies.

- Provides coaching to development team and peers on tools, techniques, and processes.

Core skills / experience :

- University degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

- 5+ years of Mainframe Development experience.

- Excellent programming skills in Mainframe, PL1, IMS DB, COBOL, JCL, DB2, MQ.

- Experience working with modern Mainframe DevOps tools (Compuware, IBM, Microfocus).

- Experience working in Agile and Waterfall environments.

- Experience in creating the design documents High Level & Detail Level Design Documents.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can explain concepts to both business and IT stakeholders.

- Experience with Onsite/Offshore model.

Nice to have :

- Working knowledge of SAS.

- Working knowledge of Focus, Telon.

- Knowledge of the financial and insurance industries including Group Benefits / Retirement products and business domains.

- Experience with Unix Solaris 10.0, Microfocus Cobol, Net Express, Server Express, Dimensions, Unix sync sort, VSAM Files.

- Experience with distributed development tools e.g. Eclipse, Visual Studio etc.
