JOB SUMMARY :
Mphasis is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in IMS Database (IMS DB) to support and lead enterprise-scale Mainframe development initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on experience across core Mainframe technologies, IMS DB/DC environments, and the full software development lifecycle.
This role requires a strong technical foundation combined with leadership capabilities to guide development teams, ensure high-quality delivery, and align technical solutions with business objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead and manage Mainframe development initiatives from requirements analysis through deployment and production support.
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications within Mainframe environments.
- Administer and manage IMS databases including design, tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define project scope and timelines.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve risks or issues.
- Ensure compliance with SDLC, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
- Stay updated with emerging Mainframe technologies and industry trends.
MANDATORY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS :
- Strong expertise in IMS DB including database design, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, and REXX.
- Experience working in IMS DB/DC environments.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS :
- Experience with DB2 or other relational databases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
- Exposure to Mainframe and cloud integration.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
