Job Summary :

Looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with 4 - 6 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, enhancing and maintaining enterprise Mainframe applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2 and CICS, along with experience working in large-scale, mission-critical applications, preferably within Insurance/BFSI environments.

Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, enhance and maintain Mainframe applications based on business and technical requirements.

- Develop and maintain programs using COBOL, JCL, DB2 and CICS.

- Analyze functional requirements and prepare technical/design specifications.

- Develop efficient and reusable COBOL programs following enterprise coding standards.

- Write and maintain JCL jobs, procedures and job streams.

- Develop and optimize DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures and database processes.

- Work on CICS online transactions and troubleshoot production issues.

- Perform impact analysis for application changes and enhancements.

- Conduct unit testing, system testing, integration testing and regression testing.

- Analyze defects, identify root cause and implement appropriate fixes.

- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development and quality standards.

- Troubleshoot application, batch and database issues across development, testing and production environments.

- Monitor and support batch processing and production jobs.

- Work closely with Business Analysts, QA teams, Architects, Production Support and other technology teams.

- Participate in requirement discussions, estimation, sprint planning and technical walkthroughs.

- Prepare technical documentation, application specifications and deployment-related documentation.

- Support production releases, implementation activities and post-production validation.

- Ensure application changes comply with enterprise security, governance, audit and quality standards.

- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and deliver assigned stories within sprint timelines.

- Work with globally distributed teams and stakeholders across different locations/time zones.

- Identify opportunities for application modernization, performance improvement and process optimization.

- Provide knowledge transfer and technical support to other team members when required.

Requirements :

- 4 - 6 years of strong hands-on experience in Mainframe development.

- Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2 and CICS.

- Good knowledge of VSAM, GDG, PROC and utility programs.

- Strong experience in writing and debugging COBOL programs.

- Good hands-on experience with DB2 SQL, joins, cursors, stored procedures and database performance considerations.

- Good understanding of CICS architecture, transactions and online processing.

- Experience with batch processing, job scheduling and JCL troubleshooting.

- Strong understanding of Mainframe application architecture and SDLC.

- Experience in production support, incident analysis and defect resolution.

- Good understanding of change management, release management and deployment processes.

- Experience with debugging tools and Mainframe utilities such as SDSF, SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEBCOPY and similar utilities.

- Experience working with source-code/version-control tools such as Git, Endevor, Changeman or similar is preferred.

- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology and experience working in sprint-based delivery models.

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.

- Good understanding of software development, testing and defect lifecycle.

- Ability to understand complex legacy applications and perform impact analysis.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Experience in Insurance, BFSI or other large enterprise applications will be highly preferred
