Role Overview :

As a Mainframe DB2 System Administrator, you will be responsible for the health, stability, and performance of critical database environments within the z/OS ecosystem. You will work closely with application development teams, infrastructure architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that database systems meet the rigorous demands of high-volume financial transactions. Your day-to-day efforts will directly influence system availability and data integrity, ensuring that our clients' mission-critical applications remain resilient and performant under complex workloads.

Key Responsibilities :

- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of DB2 subsystems on z/OS to ensure optimal environment stability for enterprise applications.

- Execute complex database performance tuning initiatives by analyzing trace data and optimizing SQL queries to reduce resource consumption and latency.

- Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery, to guarantee zero data loss and minimal downtime during system failures.

- Develop and maintain sophisticated JCL procedures to automate routine administrative tasks and streamline batch processing workflows.

- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to manage data migration, system upgrades, and PTF applications while maintaining strict adherence to security and compliance standards.

- Provide expert-level technical support for TSO/ISPF environments, assisting development teams in troubleshooting connectivity and data access issues.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale DB2 environments on z/OS, with a deep understanding of database internals and system-level parameters.

- Proven ability to perform complex performance tuning and capacity planning, translating technical metrics into actionable business improvements.

- Strong proficiency in writing and debugging JCL and SQL, with the ability to optimize complex queries for high-transaction environments.

- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve critical system issues under pressure while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.

- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, collaborating with distributed teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure support.

- Possess 8 - 16 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe System Administration, specifically within the DB2 domain.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with both technical peers and non-technical project managers to align infrastructure goals with business outcomes.
