Job Description

Description :

Lumenci is building and scaling an agentic AI platform (Lumenci AI) with a suite of enterprise-grade B2B products focused on patent analysis, IP strategy, and legal workflows. As we move from early builds to production at scale, we are looking for a seasoned Senior AI Development Engineer to anchor this journey someone who has built AI-powered products end-to-end, either at a startup (0?1 ownership) or within a large enterprise where they owned meaningful AI initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of large language models, enterprise product development, and complex legal-IP domain knowledge, and is ideal for someone ready to own both strategy and execution in a high-impact environment.

Responsibilities and Duties :

AI Product Strategy & Roadmap :

- Define and own the AI product vision and roadmap, aligned with Lumenci's business objectives and client needs

- Identify high-impact opportunities for applying AI/LLMs across patent analysis, prior art mapping, claim generation, and IP workflow automation

- Evaluate build vs. partner decisions for AI capabilities; assess and integrate third-party AI tools where appropriate

- Translate complex AI capabilities into clear product value for enterprise clients and internal stakeholders

Architecture & Technical Leadership :

- Lead the design of scalable, production-grade AI systems including LLM pipelines, RAG architectures, agentic workflows, and evaluation frameworks

- Define technical standards for AI reliability, latency, accuracy, and safety in a legal/IP context

- Drive decisions on model selection, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and inference optimization

- Establish robust evaluation and monitoring frameworks to track agent performance in production

End-to-End Product Execution :

- Lead cross-functional squads from problem definition to production deployment

- Champion adoption of AI-led workflows across client projects and internal teams by defining use cases, piloting solutions, training users, and continuously iterating based on real-world feedback and performance data

- Write clear PRDs, epics, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can act on immediately

- Maintain delivery momentum across internal engineers, AI researchers, and external partners

- Apply structured problem-solving (root-cause analysis, 5 Whys) to diagnose failure modes in AI systems and product gaps

Stakeholder Management & Communication :

- Act as the primary AI product voice with senior leadership, enterprise clients, and cross-functional teams

- Communicate trade-offs, progress, and risks clearly both written and verbal at all levels of the organization

- Build alignment between strategic OKRs and day-to-day execution priorities

Education and Experience :

Experience & Background :

- 7-10 years of experience in AI product management, AI engineering, or applied AI roles

- Demonstrated track record of building and shipping enterprise-grade AI products either at a startup (0-1 ownership) or within a large enterprise (meaningful AI initiatives at scale)

- Deep hands-on experience with LLMs in production : prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, agentic frameworks, hallucination mitigation, and latency management

- Experience working with or leading cross-functional teams (engineering, product, domain experts, data science)

Technical Depth :

- Strong understanding of AI/ML system design model selection, fine-tuning, vector search, embedding models, inference optimization

- Proficiency with LLM frameworks and tooling (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, HuggingFace, or equivalent)

- Ability to evaluate LLM output quality using automated metrics (precision, recall, BLEU, ROUGE) and human-in-the-loop evaluation

- Comfortable working closely with code prototyping workflows, reviewing architecture, or building high-grade prototypes independently

Product & Leadership Skills :

- Strong product instincts : ability to move from ambiguous problem to structured roadmap to shipped feature

- Experience working in Agile/Lean environments; comfortable leading as a Scrum Master or product owner

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management; able to simplify complexity for non-technical audiences

- High ownership mindset equally comfortable setting strategy and rolling up sleeves to execute

- Startup Mindset

- Thrives in lean, high-ownership environments with evolving priorities

- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and solving problems outside a traditional scope

- Energized by rapid learning curves and cross-functional collaboration

- Bias toward action ships incrementally rather than waiting for perfection

Domain Knowledge (Nice to Have) :

- Familiarity with intellectual property, patent law, or legal workflows

- Understanding of patent invalidation strategies (novelty, obviousness) and infringement analysis

- Background in legal tech, IP, or other specialized B2B domains

- Experience with multi-modal AI systems or document intelligence applications
