Role : Lead Database Administrator (Oracle DBA)

Job Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to manage database administration, performance optimization, and production support in a large-scale enterprise environment.

The role requires strong expertise in Oracle database performance tuning, troubleshooting, critical incident management, and database maintenance, along with the ability to lead technical teams and coordinate with client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

- Administer Oracle databases in large enterprise environments, including organizations with annual revenue exceeding $10 billion.

- Perform in-depth SQL and PL/SQL tuning, optimize indexes, and analyze query execution plans.

- Analyze AWR, ASH, and ADDM reports and implement performance tuning recommendations.

- Lead critical production incident resolution, including triage, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of permanent fixes.

- Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard environments.

- Implement and test database backup and recovery strategies using RMAN.

- Perform database upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.

- Ensure database security, auditing, and compliance.

- Automate recurring database administration tasks and maintain technical documentation.

- Investigate job failures and long-running queries, identify underlying issues, and recommend improvements to system performance.

- Lead high-priority incidents by coordinating with clients and relevant stakeholders.

- Plan and manage day-to-day team activities, ensure timely task completion, and provide clear updates to clients and stakeholders.

- Coach and mentor team members on database performance tuning and best practices.

- Drive proactive improvement initiatives and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- 8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience in enterprise environments.

- Experience supporting organizations with annual revenue exceeding $10 billion or large-scale operational workloads.

- Hands-on experience with Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c.

- Strong expertise in SQL tuning, PL/SQL tuning, query execution plans, and explain plan interpretation.

- Understanding of Oracle Optimizer behaviour, wait events, and performance diagnostics.

- Hands-on experience with SQL Developer and Toad.

- Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard.

- Good exposure to Linux administration.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively during high-severity production outages.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business teams.

- Experience leading critical-priority incidents and managing client communications.

- Ability to plan team activities, drive task completion, and promote continuous improvement.

Nice to Have :

- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases
