Role Overview :
We are hiring a Java Application Support Engineer (L2) to manage production support, troubleshoot application issues, and ensure high availability and performance. This role will act as the primary escalation point for L1 teams and collaborate closely with development and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities :
Incident & Problem Management :
- Own end-to-end resolution of L2 incidents
- Troubleshoot Java applications, logs, JVM issues, and middleware
- Participate in/lead Major Incident (MI) calls
- Conduct RCA and implement long-term fixes
- Identify trends and drive preventive actions
Change & Release Management :
- Support production deployments and changes
- Perform post-release validations and health checks
- Identify risks related to dependencies, configurations, and Java versions
- Ensure adherence to availability and performance standards
Monitoring & Automation :
- Monitor application performance and system health
- Build automation scripts for routine tasks and validations
- Enhance dashboards, alerts, and observability coverage
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
Collaboration & Communication :
- Work with Dev, Infra, DB, Middleware, and Security teams
- Act as the operational SPOC for assigned applications
- Provide clear and timely updates during incidents
Required Skills :
Technical Skills :
- Strong Java troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Unix/Linux and networking fundamentals
- Scripting : Shell / Python / PowerShell
- Observability tools : Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, ELK
- Good understanding of ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change)
- Experience with RCA, DR drills, and resilience operations
Core Competencies :
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a 247 environment
- Strong communication and ownership mindset
Education & Experience :
- 3-6 years in Application Support / Production Support / ARO
- Bachelors degree in Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent
