Required Skills :

- Strong experience with PostgreSQL architecture and internals.

- Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, Shell scripting, or Python.

- Experience in configuring high availability and failover mechanisms.

- Knowledge of cloud-based PostgreSQL deployments (AWS RDS, GCP, Azure, etc.).

- Hands-on experience with open-source PostgreSQL tools (pgpool, patroni, repmgr, etc.).

- Solid understanding of database security, compliance, and data protection best practices.

- Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

- Certifications in PostgreSQL or Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) are a plus.

- Experience in a 24x7 production environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Configure and manage backup, restore, replication, and Point-In-Time Recovery (PITR) using various replication tools.

- Build and maintain large-scale database infrastructure for high-volume, mission-critical environments.

- Install and upgrade PostgreSQL (both minor and major versions).

- Perform switchover/failover tasks based on different scenarios.

- Optimize database performance by scheduling maintenance tasks such as vacuum and analyze.

- Deploy and manage PostgreSQL environments in both on-premises and cloud setups.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CPU/load, blocking/locking, long-running queries, and disk usage.

- Monitor, tune, and optimize SQL queries and server performance.

- Configure and manage high availability, load balancing, and connection pooling.

- Use and configure open-source tools/utilities like pgpool, pgAdmin, pgbouncer, Patroni, Repmgr, PAF.

- Perform data migrations using relevant tools and methods.

- Create and manage database objects such as triggers, indexes, stored procedures, etc.

- Ensure database security, compliance, and audit readiness.

- Monitor access control and protect against unauthorized database access.

- Identify potential performance or availability issues proactively and address them.

- Automate routine DBA tasks using Shell, Python, or PL/pgSQL scripting.

- Establish and enforce database policies, standards, and best practices.
