This role demands a hands-on automation expert with strong analytical thinking, capable of embedding AI-enabled automation capabilities, CI/CD automation, and cloud-infra integration to deliver high-confidence releases.
Key Responsibilities :
Automation Strategy & Framework Design :
- Lead the design, development, and evolution of robust, scalable test automation frameworks for UI and API using Python and Robot Framework (minimum 5-7 years hands-on).
- Pioneer AI-enabled automation solutions for test generation, intelligent validation, and predictive quality insights leveraging modern tools and practices (e.g., MCP, Open API-supported AI).
- Define and establish automation standards, best practices, reusable libraries, and coding conventions aligned with evolving industry trends.
Implementation & Execution :
- Develop, maintain, and optimize automated test suites covering :
1. UI automation (Robot + Selenium / Playwright)
2. API automation (REST, OpenAPI/Swagger-based validations, auth flows, negative scenarios)
- Ensure automation is embedded in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins primary) with tight integration into build and deployment workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering teams to identify areas for intelligent test coverage expansion, including API specs and UI behavior.
AI-Enabled and Intelligent Testing :
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted testing techniques, such as ML-powered test case generation, self-healing locators, anomaly detection, and test data synthesis.
- Explore integration of generative AI tools to accelerate automation scripting and maintenance efforts.
Cloud & DevOps Integration :
- Champion automation in cloud environments : AWS, Docker, infrastructure tooling, and observability platforms.
- Ensure automated suites work reliably across containerized and cloud-native test environments.
Quality Governance & Leadership :
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, enabling them to own QA sign-off and quality deliverables.
- Mentor and uplift team members on automation best practices, design thinking, and diagnostics.
- Establish and measure quality and automation KPIs (coverage, pass/fail health, test execution trends).
Critical Thinking & Analysis :
- Employ strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate risks, interpret test outcomes, and uncover root causes.
- Lead defect triage and resolution workflows with data-driven decisions.
Required Skills & Experience :
Must-Have Technical Skills :
- 7-10 years of hands-on experience building and evolving automation frameworks using Python and Robot Framework (core mandate).
- Deep expertise in API automation (REST, Open API, authenticated workflows) and UI automation.
- Strong hands-on expertise in UI automation using :
1. Robot Framework with Selenium
2. Robot Framework with Playwright (or direct Playwright exposure is a plus)
- Demonstrated experience developing AI-enabled automation capabilities and applying intelligent testing practices.
- Strong understanding of Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, build orchestration, and automation integration.
- Solid working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS), containerization (Docker), and related orchestration.
Analytical & Leadership Skills :
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams effectively.
- Strong communication skills and experience mentoring or guiding automation engineers.
Good to Have :
- Experience in IGA/IAM domain or enterprise security products (optional but beneficial).
- Familiarity with additional tools (Playwright, Postman, Allure/ExtentReports) and observability metrics.
- Integration of AI/ML for test prioritization and predictive test outcomes, improving release confidence and cycle times.
- Partnering with DevOps and SRE to enforce automation quality gates and release readiness metrics.
