Job Description :
We are seeking a skilled IBM MQ Administrator with extensive. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administering, configuring, and troubleshooting IBM MQ environments, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of mission-critical production systems. This role requires expertise in managing messaging systems, implementing security layers, and providing SME-level support within the team.
Technical Expertise required :
- 2 years of hands-on experience in IBM MQ administration.
- For z/OS : Configure and manage Queue Sharing Groups (QSG) for high availability and workload balancing.
- For AS400 : Implement multi-instance queue managers and remote queue management for failover and redundancy.
- Solid understanding of MQSI commands and debugging flows.
- Knowledge of FTP, SFTP, HTTP protocols.
- Experience with MQ monitoring tools.
- Proficiency in SSL configuration and MQ security layers.
- Understanding of RDQM (Replicated Data Queue Managers).
- Experience in Pub/Sub processing, triggers, and message routing.
- Strong knowledge of WebSphere MQ best practices.
- Hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux administration.
- Proficiency in scripting (Shell, Python) for automation.
- Experience in IBM PMR problem determination and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities :
- Administer, configure, and maintain IBM MQ on z/OS and AS400 platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IBM MQ issues, including message queuing, cluster management, and security configurations.
- Manage and monitor MQ Listeners, Command Servers, Channel Initiators, Trigger Monitors, MQ Log Files, and Dead Letter Queues.
- Set up and maintain Queue Sharing Groups (QSG) on z/OS and multi-instance queue managers on AS400,
- Implement security best practices, including SSL configuration and role-based access control.
- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize MQ infrastructure.
- Deploy and manage BAR files, IIB, Pub-Sub environments, and ensure secure integrations.
- Provide SME-level support and mentorship to junior administrators.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, developers, and vendors to manage new landscape setups and upgrades.
- Handle product upgrades, Fixpack installations, and version migrations for IBM MQ.
- Work with Control-M batch processing and troubleshoot MQ file transactions.
- Develop and maintain scripting solutions (Shell, Python) for automation and monitoring.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support as part of a rotational team.
Additional Requirement :
- Should be ready to work in any shift including Night shift
- Should be ready to work during weekend (SAT and SUN)
- Capable of handling escalation independently.
- Minimum 6 years of experience with IBM MQ on z/OS (version 8.0, 9.x) and AS400 (IBM i, versions 7.1 - 9.x).
- Familiarity with Queue Sharing Groups (QSG) on z/OS and journaled queues on AS400.
