Job Summary :

A leading U.S.-based financial services organization is looking for a Functional Data Governance Specialist with strong exposure to banking products and data management practices. The role will focus on establishing data governance standards, improving data quality, and managing Critical Data Elements (CDEs) across key banking domains such as Customer/KYC, Deposits, Loans, and Payments.

The candidate will play a key role in ensuring that enterprise data used for business operations, risk analysis, and regulatory reporting is accurate, well-defined, and governed through effective data management practices.

Key Responsibilities :

Banking Data Governance :

- Develop and implement governance standards for banking data domains including Customer/KYC, Deposits, Loans, and Payments.

- Identify and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs) across banking products.

- Define data ownership, stewardship roles, and accountability models.

Data Quality Management :

- Design and implement data quality rules and monitoring frameworks.

- Track and analyze data quality metrics such as accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.

- Investigate data discrepancies and coordinate with business and technology teams for root cause analysis and resolution.

Governance Framework & Documentation :

- Support the rollout and adoption of enterprise-level data governance policies.

- Maintain business glossary, metadata documentation, and data lineage information.

- Monitor governance performance through KPIs and data quality dashboards.

Stakeholder Engagement :

- Collaborate with product teams, operations, risk, compliance, and IT teams to implement governance standards.

- Ensure data governance practices support regulatory reporting and data management initiatives.

Required Qualifications :

- 7+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Business Data Analysis within banking or financial services.

- Strong understanding of banking data domains including Customer/KYC, Deposits, Lending/Loans, and Payments.

- Hands-on experience defining CDEs, data quality rules, and stewardship frameworks.

- Proven ability to work with cross-functional business and technology stakeholders.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with data governance or data catalog platforms such as Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.

- Knowledge of banking regulatory data governance standards like BCBS 239 or AML/KYC frameworks.

- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
