About Equilibrium :
Equilibrium is a carbon removal company at the forefront of developing nature-based carbon removal projects in the Global South, each guided by our three core pillars high-integrity, high-quality, and high-impact. With an aim to make carbon projects bankable, the projects are designed with an emphasis on technology, robust scientific research, expert implementation partnerships, and innovative blended finance mechanisms. We are currently originating eight projects across Central and South India, focused on Regenerative Agriculture, Agroforestry, Mangroves Restoration and Biochar Production. With over 100,000 farmers & 150,000 hectares in the pipeline, Equilibrium is on the path to generate approximately 1 million carbon credits annually.
We are seeking a highly competent and driven individual to join our team as GIS Developer.
Key Responsibilities :
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following -
1. Perform rigorous spatial data integrity checks; validate outputs from satellite imagery and field surveys using robust QA/QC workflows aligned with carbon methodologies.
2. Perform advanced remote sensing analysis on optical, thermal, radar, LiDAR and hyperspectral data; conduct sensor fusion and time-series analysis and integrate field-based data (soil surveying, ground truthing) to support carbon projects.
3. Lead the end-to-end lifecycle (architecture, development, testing, deployment, maintenance) of scalable geospatial applications and user-facing automation interfaces, including APIs, dashboards that allow users to trigger data ingestion and execute processing workflows.
4. Build end-to-end data pipelines using scripting languages such as Node.js, Python, CSS, HTML, C++ and Django to handle large-scale raster, vector and time-series datasets; automate ingestion, cleaning, analysis, reporting and spatial QA/QC and use workflow tools to manage complex processing chains.
5. Build and maintain scalable geospatial databases using PostgreSQL or any other DB management system.
6. Deliver geospatial visualization and integration using Leaflet, GeoPandas and related tools to produce actionable insights; integrate geospatial logic into backend APIs and front-end applications.
7. Ensure code quality and performance by maintaining documentation, version control (Git) and software best practices; optimize geospatial queries and algorithms for large-scale datasets.
8. Automate repetitive GIS workflows (data ingestion, cleaning, analysis, reporting) to improve efficiency and scalability.
9. Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, SageMaker) is highly expected, as well as the experience in building and optimizing deep learning models using neural network architectures including CNNs, GANs and other advanced frameworks.
10. Strong hold in LiDAR data processing, proficiency in proximal and field-based sensors, and photogrammetry software (Pix4D, Agisoft) is an added advantage.
Ideal Candidate Profile :
A successful applicant must have the following :
1. 3-6 years of experience in geospatial development, software engineering, or related roles.
2. Strong proficiency in Python for geospatial data processing and backend development.
3. Proficiency in working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM tools like Drizzle, Prisma is a plus.
4. Experience building and deploying production-grade applications (APIs, web apps, or data platforms).
5. Familiarity with geospatial libraries such as GeoPandas, GDAL, Rasterio, Shapely.
6. Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and deployment workflows (Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
7. Ability to structure clean, maintainable code with version control (Git) and documentation.
8. Strong communication skills in English and Hindi; fluency in additional regional languages is a plus.
9. Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and perform well under pressure.
10. Ability to assess project feasibility and GIS requirements considering geographic, environmental, and socio-economic factors.
