Role : Senior Engineer - Backup & Recovery

Level : L3 Support

Job Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer Backup & Recovery with strong L3 expertise in Commvault and hands-on experience supporting enterprise backup operations in AWS environments.

The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of NetBackup as a secondary skill set.

This role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, solution design, operational excellence, and ensuring data integrity for mission-critical workloads.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead and manage complex backup and recovery operations using Commvault in AWS cloud environments

- Provide L3-level support, including root cause analysis, performance tuning, and resolution of escalated incidents

- Design, build, and optimize backup infrastructure, including disk- and tape-based environments

- Integrate Commvault with AWS native services such as S3, EC2, RDS, and Glacier

- Support NetBackup environments (configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting) as a secondary skill

- Manage and maintain multiple tape libraries within backup infrastructure

- Configure and manage backup schedules, policies, and retention strategies

- Troubleshoot complex backup, tape, and storage-related issues

- Automate backup processes using Commvault Workflows and scripting

- Document operational procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for compliance and knowledge sharing

- Participate in audits, disaster recovery (DR) drills, and capacity planning

- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance

- Adhere to change management, incident management, and problem management processes

- Work independently in high-pressure production environments

Required Technical Skills :

Commvault :

- 5+ years of hands-on experience at L3 support level

- Strong expertise in Commvault via GUI and command line

- Experience with automation and Commvault Workflows

NetBackup :

- L2-level experience in configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting

Cloud (AWS) :

- L2-level experience supporting backup solutions in AWS

- Integration with AWS services (S3, EC2, RDS, Glacier)

Operating Systems :

- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows

- Ability to troubleshoot backup issues on both Linux and Windows servers

Scripting :

- Working knowledge of scripting for automation and operational efficiency

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
