Engineering Manager

Lead and develop a team of Platform and Software Engineers, owning their career growth, performance, wellbeing and team capability, while acting as the senior technical authority.

About this role:

The Engineering Manager is a unique and critical role within WDigital's engineering foundations organisation, part of the Services, Operations and Infrastructure (SOI) division of Group IT. Sitting within a collaborative leadership team, you carry two equally important accountabilities: the direct line management and career development of Platform and Software Engineers, and the senior technical leadership that keeps the team moving forward.

What you'll do:

- Directly manage the career development, performance, wellbeing, and day to day experience of Engineers.

- Work closely with AU Engineering Managers to ensure India-based engineers are effectively integrated into their domain squads.

- Champion a blameless, psychologically safe engineering culture within the India team.

- Manage the capacity and wellbeing of the India-based team, balancing planned engineering work with some third level reactive operational support.

- Act as a senior escalation point for complex or high-severity incidents during India working hours.

Tech Stack:

- GCP, Azure, Kubernetes (GKE/AKS), Terraform, Go, Python, Bash, Dynatrace, Splunk, New Relic.

What you'll bring:

- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in platform engineering, software development, or distributed systems roles.

- Demonstrated experience directly managing or leading a team of engineers.

- Deep experience in resilient cloud solution design and distributed systems architecture (GCP and Azure).

- Strong experience with enterprise-scale Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud-native tooling.

- Strong scripting proficiency in at least one language (Go, Python, or Bash).
