About the Role :

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager - Java to lead a team of engineers while actively contributing to architecture, design, and coding. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical leadership and people management in a fast-paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers

- Stay hands-on with coding, code reviews, and system design

- Design and build scalable backend systems using Java

- Drive architecture decisions and technical roadmaps

- Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and business teams for delivery

- Establish best practices in coding, testing, and deployment

- Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of systems

- Manage sprint planning, delivery timelines, and prioritization

- Hire and retain top engineering talent

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 8 - 12+ years of experience in software development

- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices

- Prior experience managing engineering teams

- Strong understanding of system design and distributed systems

- Experience with REST APIs and event-driven architecture

- Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL)

- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)

- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Good to Have :

- Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment

- Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices

- Knowledge of performance optimization and security best practices

- Domain experience in fintech, e-commerce, or SaaS
