Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced DB2 Database Administrator with strong expertise in managing and supporting DB2 database environments on IBM z/OS Mainframe. The candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, high availability, backup/recovery, and production support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, maintain, and support DB2 database systems on z/OS.
- Manage DB2 database infrastructure, including instances, partitions, and clusters.
- Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including HADR, clustering, and replication.
- Perform database upgrades, fix packs, patches, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor database and system performance and perform DB2/z/OS performance tuning.
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot complex database and system-level issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Optimize CPU, memory, I/O, and storage configurations for database performance.
- Work closely with infrastructure teams on capacity planning and hardware sizing.
- Automate DBA and system administration activities using Shell, Python, or Perl scripting.
- Ensure database security and compliance, including authentication, authorization, and auditing.
- Provide 24/7 production support and on-call coverage as required.
- Maintain database documentation, operational standards, procedures, and support guidelines.
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience in DB2 Database Administration.
- Experience with DB2 on z/OS / Mainframe environments.
- Expertise in DB2 performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with high availability solutions and clustering.
- Knowledge of z/OS system resources, CPU, memory, I/O, and storage.
- Scripting experience in Shell, Python, or Perl.
- Strong production support and incident management experience.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
