Database Administrator - SQL Server

Mandatory Skills :

- Knowledge on Storage and Windows environment.

Key Roles and Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (versions [e.g., 2016, 2019, 2022]) across production, development, and testing environments.

- Manage database backups, restores, and disaster recovery processes, ensuring compliance with RTO/RPO objectives.

- Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access control, encryption, and auditing.

Performance Optimization :

- Monitor and analyze SQL Server performance using tools like SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and Performance Monitor.

- Optimize queries, indexes, and database schema to improve application performance and reduce latency.

- Collaborate with developers to review and refine T-SQL code for efficiency and adherence to best practices.

Windows System Integration :

- Administer Windows Server environments (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019/2022) hosting SQL Server instances.

- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows-related issues impacting SQL Server, such as memory management, CPU utilization, and I/O bottlenecks.

- Configure and optimize drive performance, including RAID configurations, SAN/NAS storage, and SSD/NVMe utilization, to maximize SQL Server throughput.

Storage and Drive Management :

- Analyze and optimize disk I/O performance for SQL Server workloads, including tempdb, transaction logs, and data files.

- Design and implement storage solutions to support high-performance database operations, ensuring proper allocation and separation of workloads.

- Work with system administrators to align storage configurations with SQL Server best practices.

Additional Duties :

- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical database incidents.

- Stay current with SQL Server updates, patches, and emerging technologies to recommend improvements.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and business analysts, to support organizational goals.
