Database Administrator

We are hiring a Database Administrator for one of our clients' MNCs.

Location : Remote

Job Type : 6 months contract + ext

Need Immediate joiners only. Were looking for a skilled DBA to oversee the installation, configuration, performance, and security of our database systems. Youll design schemas, manage backups, enforce security, optimize performance, and collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure our databases run smoothly and reliably.

Key Responsibilities :

Installation, Configuration & Maintenance :

- Install, configure, and upgrade DBMS platforms (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

Database Design & Implementation :

- Design schemas, indexes, tables, views, and stored procedures in collaboration with developers

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Planning :

- Implement and test backup/recovery processes, establish disaster recovery protocols

Performance Monitoring & Tuning :

- Continuously monitor metrics (CPU, memory, I/O, query performance) and optimize via indexing, query tuning, hardware configuration

Security & Compliance :

- Manage user access/roles, implement encryption, apply security patches, conduct audits; ensure compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, PCI-DSS)

High Availability & Replication :

- Configure clustering, replication, failover solutions to ensure uptime

Upgrades & Patch Management :

- Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations; test in dev environments before production rollout

Capacity Planning & Scalability :

- Forecast storage, compute needs; scale infrastructure proactively

Troubleshooting & Support :

- Diagnose and resolve performance, connectivity, data integrity issues; provide on-call support

Standards & Documentation :

- Define and enforce DB standards, write manuals, maintain runbooks, document configuration and changes

Data Archiving & ETL :

- Manage data retention/archiving policies; support data loads, ETL, warehousing

- Evaluate new DB tech, tools, and processes; recommend improvements and automation

Qualifications & Skills :

Technical :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

- Proficiency with SQL and one or more DBMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

- Experience with performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, parameter tuning

- Skills in backup, recovery, replication, clustering, high availability

- Familiarity with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP), scripting (Python, PowerShell, shell)

Security & Compliance :

- Solid understanding of encryption, access controls, auditing, and compliance regulations

Soft Skills :

- Strong analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational ability

- Effective communicator; able to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams

- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to after-hours issues

Preferred Certifications & Experience :

- Certifications like Oracle OCP, Microsoft Azure DB Administrator, AWS RDS, etc.
